Well I have a new boat, some may know I sold my 3587 within a week of putting her on CL and was left boatless. Wanted to go bigger and get a 4788. But like the crazy man I am I took a little look around a 5788 and fell in love with the layout, the beam and just about everything.
I looked at so many other options of boats from Ferriti's, Aziumt, Navigators, Carvers, Symbols etc. but I kept coming back to the 5788. I was in love. No disrespect to the 4788 that I started looking at, it was and is an amazing boat, I just fell in love with the extra weight and room.

So I got super close on one, offer accepted, seller a nightmare to deal with and long story short I walked away. at the same time as I was close to closing I found another and pursued that. and it took nearly 2 months to work through everything. I have had her a couple of weeks now and I can't believe how much I am loving her.

couple of pics.... need to get some really good ones..

Will have a few questions as I go, and will use this thread to share my initial thoughts on the boat.
Note- that's the old name on her, will be changing soon, not quite decided on the final name yet.

Here's my initial thoughts...
- The room, oh the room, I have had a lot of people on the boat and it just swallows them up, and when its just me and my wife- it feels like a proper home, huge galley, everything so usable.
- The power, everything just feels so smooth. the way it accelerates, the way the throttles glide, the way it sounds like a jet airplane taking off when you push her
- The wake, it's just a beautiful sight. (Sorry sailboats and deep water paddle boarders)
- The pilot house- I wanted a Pilothouse for Pacific Northwest weather, but man, even in this sun we are having, with the pilot house doors open it's so cool in there out of the sun I will sometimes drive from there just to cool off.
- Auto Pilot. lot's to learn but I never had one. so cool so easy, so relaxing.
-Thrusters, man I used to sneer at people using them when I didn't have them. but docking this boat is easier than my 3587 by a mile, it responds to prop steering so well but with thrusters, that last foot to the dock is so so easy. I could single hand this boat with less concern than I ever had with the 3587.
- Remote Thrusters, I have the remote with the boat, there is nothing cooler than getting to within a foot of the dock and then slowly walking to the stern and controlling the last foot from the boat, then strolling to the bow and bringing any drift back in as you grab a line. Man it's cool, but more importantly gives you so much confidence and makes everything so much easier.
-Happy Wife, my wife feels so much safer on the boat, she never liked the locks, and hated the swimstep to tie up from, now she has nice walk arounds and a cockpit, she just seems so much more at ease.
-The style, ok this is a personal thing, but I think the boat has beautiful, beautiful lines I love how it looks on the dock and on the water from ever angle

There is just so much to like

Don't want to seem like I am showing off, not bragging, just so smitten with the new to me boat, spend every second at work thinking about the next time I can get to her.

Happy Boater...

Actually really pleased the other one didn't work out. I think it would have been a headache and they had a new buyer that bought my survey. Bonus !

Haha Bong. We had them on the swim step all the way from lake union to Blake island at the weekend and they never moved an inch. Kind of forgot about them until I got there. Glad they are nice heavy chairs. Look for you on the water...

That's funny, I can picture your wife trolling for salmon while underway to Blake! We spent the day in Poulsbo on Sunday and had a good time, good place to fill up the tanks as well at only $2.21/gallon. Can't wait to see you on the Sound, it will be easy to spot such a pretty boat!

We have just returned from SE Alaska in our 5788 which we have had just over a year. In that time I have put over 700 hours on her. My wife loves the boat and she liked our 3988 but this one is home to her. The boat is so solid in heavy seas that she is maybe feeling a little too confident. Your new boat is beautiful and I fully understand you infatuation. Look forward to hearing of your travels and upgrades which we all can't seem to keep under control. Please give me a call with any questions or concerns (562-458-8317). I single hand this boat all the time and it is by far the easiest I have owned. I have remote thruster envy right now however.

Bob....buddy.....

We have GOT to hook a brother up! I figured out a fairly simple relay circuit thatI installed on Omega, so I could integrate a new remote control into the existing stock thruster circuit. It was pretty cheap and works great, if you need some info, let me know...

Nice to meet you Bob. Hopefully meet up some time would be fun to discuss the boats. SE Alaska sounds amazing. It's on my bucket list.
I single handed her this weekend while my wife was away. Amazingly easy.
Not sure what upgrades yet. But having hung out with BJ on Omega. I am many steps behind he is the master of upgrades. Every direction you look :)

Congrats Simbad! That 57 is sure a great looking boat! I'm curious to see which one of you 57 owners will be the first one to paint flames on the jet engine like air scoops. :)

While remote thruster control is great, convenient, and neat...it can also be a problem.
One very large boat in the Ballard locks was using theirs when it lost connection with the bow thruster.
While it was thrusting. BANG! Its slammed into the wall.

Just an FYI. Enjoy the boat.

I have 10' itus now...she's beautiful!!!

I've always loved the 57 and think it's one of the most beautiful Bayliner's ever built - enjoy man!!

Wow..your story is heartbreaking and exciting all in one! Buying a boat should be something FUN..after all it's a pure luxury item and not by any means a NEED so it should be something that's a fun transaction! I'm very happy for you that you bought the boat you really love. You can easily read that you're really happy with it, your decision and rightfully so!!

Thanks for all the nice words everyone. I'm in Vegas his week at a conference but back Saturday and heading to the islands for 2 weeks on the boat.
Can't wait. Seriously can't wait.
Open to any gulf island suggestions. We will hit Port Townsend on the way up. A night at Sydney to clear customs and then a few days before meeting friends in victoria and then to Roche and then the last few days littering around in the San juans. Hopefully hitting Sucia. Never done that yet.
So any don't miss places in the Gulf islands?

Congratulations on your new boat! You sound excited and you should be. I certainly have felt the way you do with every boat we've purchased, so good for you for expressing your joy here. We know with boats there is "always something' so let's make the most of the happy times when we have them!
