I would like to also do Desolation and Princess Louisa on my 2855.. I have never been, and would love to have knowledgeable captains that know the area anchorages, and such.

Don't forget to use a wind prediction program (e.g., predictwind.com) when planning to leave the dock and cross or move up/down Georgia Strait. The morning may or may not be the best time of day for your cruising.

Thank you all for the advice, we just returned a few days ago and a great trip with the exception of one day. The run from Point Roberts around Sands Head to Vancouver was rough on one of the passengers. We had light wind but a beam sea that was no more than 4' but very close together. I am not sure if the short period was because of the Fraser or what. The winds were light and we ran along the eastern edge of the ship lanes. Should I have stayed farther out like the western edge? The rest of the trip was smooth sailing, including the run south past the Fraser. The straights were like a bath tub for days. Enjoyed Smuggler Cove, Pender Harbor, Granville Island, Coal Harbour, Backeddy Marina, Skoomumchuck Rapids and Princess Louisa was amazing. One of the things we did on the way back was to locate four of the pictographs mentioned in the Gunkholing book, if anyone needs last and longs let me know.

We've done a course from Active Pass past Sand Heads to False Creek twice. There isn't going to be a third. Last time we went via Porlier Pass and had a crossing that kept us north if Sand Heads. It's now the Admiral approved route.
