Does anyone here have a lead on an inexpensive outlet for LED lighting? We need a few fixtures but mostly just want to replace incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs in the existing fixtures. Also what warmth should I look for in order to try and be comparable to the original lighting?

If I find anything on this I will post it here as well. Any feedback would be appreciated.

West Marine has a limited selection but the prices seem really high. Mini G4 LED bulb was $29 for one.

We bought ours at SuperBrightLEDs.com.

We like the cool white. My wife felt the warm white were too red.

Capt TJ, many of the cheaper LED's I don't work with dimmers. If you want them to dim, dig deeper on Google - dimmable LED's

Hero-ledstore.com is another site where I've sourced the non dimmable version at a very reasonable cost. Good luck. Cheers

Ebay :)

I took a chance and bought a hundred G4 bulbs for $1.34 each three years ago.

No out of the box failures, and I have I think 90 odd fixtures in my boat.

three years later they still work great, every one of them. :)

+1 on the eBay leds. Got some g4s and some of the disk for the puck lights. Had to cut a little off the wire to make fit. So far so good. Would like to find an anchor light led replacement for a perko fig 338. And a fig 71.

I've bout a large number of LED bulbs from Eversale ( www.eversale.com/ ) for my RV and boat. They sell directly and through Amazon. Check the prices with shipping from both sources; sometimes they are different.

Here are the bulbs that I got for the fixtures in my 3788:

- Saloon, stateroom, head, ceiling lights, outdoor overhead lights: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0086YF8B8/ref...ilpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (These bulbs need the pins cut a bit shorter in order for the lens to fit)
- Engine and accessory compartment lights: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KI6JGVK/ref...ilpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- Light on cockpit hardtop (installed by hardtop manufacturer): www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007M48PNQ/ref...ilpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I could not find light bulbs from Eversale that fit the courtesy lights by the floor of the salon, stateroom, and cockpit. All the ones they had were too tall and did not allow the lens to snap in place. I ended up finding some very small bayonet light bulbs that worked, but I don't remember the source.

I did all mine from Batteries Plus. About a 1/4 of the cost of what is at WM or a RV supply store.
Personally, I was not comfortable ordering these online. I wanted to see the color and make sure they would fit. The batteries Plus store had a test socket to see what color they were.

I just found that ship to shore in Gig Harbor has a really good selection of LED lights at about half the cost of West Marine. I picked up a few G4 and a couple LED marker light bulbs for my Nav lights. The G4 bulbs were 15.99 each. That's a bit more than I've seen them online for but I did like being able to plug them in and see how they look before buying. It will take a while but slowly I will get them all switched out.

Walmart sells the festoon style replacement LED bulbs that are a perfect fit for the square lights on the 45's. They are about $6.00 per bulb. They sell them in the automotive section. Note they don't seem to have the G4 side pin replacement LED's but they do at least have the festoon style bulbs and $6 is not too bad a price for the convenience of grabbing them off the shelf and having them in the fixtures that same day. :)
Pic of the bulb they sell that is a perfect replacement is attached. It is labeled in their store as fitting bulb size "578/212-2" and also fitting 211-2, 214-2, 560, and 569.

I am a big fan of the www.superbrightleds.com/ web site. I have been using them some some time. They have everything. They have a natural White color that doesn't look blue. There is a good page on all the various frequencies and colors. I also purchased some Red to setup a Night Red Light setup o the boat so I don't loose my night vision. You have to be careful of polarity on some bulbs, SuperBright uses a diode setup so either way works.

I use this for all the round lights. www.superbrightleds.com/moreinfo/miniatu...-wedge-base/199/874/

I agree that it's nice to try them out first. The bulbs from eversale.com are inexpensive enough that I bought one each of a few different part numbers to try them out. Once I decided which ones I wanted I ordered the rest. Incidentally, eversale stands behind their product. I had a bulb for my RV that was DOA and another one on my boat that failed in a few days. In both cases they promptly shipped replacements.

I will have to try out eversale. Right now I needed bulbs right away for a trip we are leaving on Wed of this week plus I really did like testing them right there.

Thanks for all the good advice.

Amazon for sure. Here in Canada at Canadian tire one bulb was about $12-15. Ordered 45 various types and colours off amazon for $21. Be prepared to wait a couple weeks but hey with savings like that it worth it.

Don't forget that Eversale also has an Amazon store. Sometimes the prices vary a bit between their site and Amazon.

I have a 1991 3288 Diesel and I'd like to change the bulbs in my red & green nav lights to LED. Can someone tell me the "name" (or size) of the bulb to search for on Amazon?

FWIW, I was told by a tech at the local marine store that you must have the same colour of LED light as the colour of your lens. That is, for the port side (red) running light you have to use a red LED. Similarly, for the starboard side you need to put a green LED in.

I don't know if this is true or not.

I had always assumed that the glass itself proved the red or green color. I'll have to pull one off to confirm. Thanks.

I have a 1991 3288 Diesel Bayliner and I am having a hard time finding an LED replacement for the two recessed lights that are directly over the salon table. They are the ones that are approximately 6 inches with simple, flat, brass bezel. The bulbs are tiny and are not the festoon style. They kinda look like a flashlight bulb (?) I sure would be grateful for a line on where to find these odd little bulbs in LED.
