My 2455 appears to be the same. I've already done some repairs during my pulpit rebuild this spring. Same issues.

My 65 larson is also the same, I've removed the rub rail and cut the top off to do transom replacement. When putting it back together I glassed the two halves together as I couldn't figure out any way that those petty, rusted our screws were ever doing anything useful.

It pisses me off when I see this stuff. Eventually I will be in the market for a new boat and when I see this type of workmanship makes me think twice about buying another bayliner or other brands that cut corners. Boats are NOT cheap and when you see stuff like this it just pisses me off.

Nobody likes it, but every boat owner, of every boat, of every brand sees things they do not like.

If you search for the perfect boat, and have perfect boat standards, you will spend a lifetime searching, or will not be able to afford it if you ever find one.

so...

You fix the things you do not like, and you enjoy your boat.

On 4 may I posted a similar problem "Rainwater in your boat"
It seems that some boats maybe smaller ones like my 2452 are even put together with a micture of selftapping screws and rivets and some few through bolts, this combined with a poor sealing gives you a lot of small leaks, furthermore you might see water coming in at the engine room vents.
Many times these screws are used to fasten some interior as well, but I think you will see the same on other brands as well.

Hi. I am looking for a few feet of aluminum rub rail to replace 2 short damaged sections that are unsightly if someone has replaced their rail with the stainless mod and has the old sections.
Thanks!
