Looking for help in locating a source for a Westerbeke generator Stop/Start Switch. This part is located on the control panel of the 4788 pilot house. The Bayliner part number is 12536. All help would be appreciated

Likely not a Westerbeke part if it is on the Bayliner panel. Most good electrical marine locations should have a start, stop, preheat switch. This would be one specializing in electrical parts. In Seattle, I could name several but not in your location. Fall back would be to buy from Bayliner, Ses Ray, Meridian dealer.

Before you replace it make sure the screw is tight. I did research to find one, but later found tightening the screw did the trick. Here is the result of my research: The switch is made by Kraus & Naimer available from:

Hardware Specialty
Seattle, WA
206-624-5785 (ask for Jeff Ledgerwood)

Yours is probably a CR10, that is replaced by a CA10.
But it's the number from the little white label affixed to the switch that you need to give them.
Probably a USB193. Cost is about $85

Report back what you learn.

Took off the broken switch and contacted Hansen Marine Services in Ma.the NE distributor for Westerbeke. They dont have the part in stock, but can get it for me from the manufacturer. When I first contacted Bayliner they told me they didn't have any in stock and couldn't supply me with any manufacturers info. For those that may be interested the part info is:

Manufacturer: Kraus & Naimer
Part Number: CHR10/USB193 (Three function w/ spring return from left to center)
Handle: F-Handle

Call Kraus and Naimer in New Jersey.

If you cannot find a number for their NJ office

Call their office in Toronto Canada.

Michael Swann in that office has been VERY helpful to me

K&N make that genny switch and the rotary switch for SHORE OFF and SHIP.

The rotary A/C selector switch on our 1988 3818 is a Kraus & Naimer switch

K& N makes the rotary switches for Blue Sea in Bellingham

There usually is a K&N number on the plastic at the top of the switch that would be up against the escutcheon plate or dash board

here is Michael's info

These kinds of items would be good to post in a sticky for misc stuff. A friend of mine had the same issue and ended up having the local westy guy install a remote westy panel for mega bucks. I am going to copy and paste this info so I have it. God knows it will break as everything associated with my gen has done. I think it's out to get me like the Chucky doll.

I just purchased three of them, one to repair our switch, one for Foster (BOC member)
and a spare for the boat. They cost 14.95 US$ at this store which is like a used boat parts store but these switches are new.Staff are very nice young ladies but don't have a clue whats in the store. If you can't get one let me know .Next time in Bellingham i will
pick one up for you

I picked up the part from hardware specialty in Seattle. But I don't know which wires go where.

Anyone know which colored wires go to each of the posts 1-8? I need a wiring diagram for the CA10 for what's behind my 4788 control panel

Thanks!

Here is some more information on my setup

99' Bayliner 4788
The nob on the CHR10 broke (more specifically the plastic post).
Found the replacement at Speciality HW in Seattle, new PN was CA10.

The CA 10 has a stop, start, and momentary switch (for the starter)

The CA10 on one side as connections 1, 3, 5, 7
On the other side are connections for 4, 2, 8, 6

I had removed two screws from the switch when troubleshooting if I could fix the post and did not have a chance to take note of which cables go to which posts.

There were two sets (bundles) of cables.
Bundle 1 -
- yellow with red stripe
- red
- purple with red stripe

Bundle 2
- yellow with red stripe
- purple
- orange

Anyone had a wiring diagram for which cable should go to which post?

If not, anyone able to take a picture of theirs and upload for me to review.

Thanks!!

Is the C10 USB 193 the same switch as or an acceptable replacement for CA10 USB193?
