Well, the USCG does qualify it as a "boat" when it is on the water. But it is not a Bayliner.
As a reward ,to myself, for actully retireing and not throwing any one of my bosses off a bridge or committing any of the many wild acts that crossed my mind so many times over the 26 years of my career, I bought a new (to me) toy for playing on the water.

It is a 1975 Maule M 5 on floats.

Of course my wife gave me the "Are you out of your mind?" look when I told her. It happened to be her birthday and it was hard to convince her that it was for her.

So I took her out to the garage and showed her her very own all white with her name stenciled on it brand new Kawasaki 4 wheeler. All her girl friends have one and she has hinted that it would be fun if she could go with them when they go out to play. Big smile on that women.

Of course I am not allowed to ride the 4 wheeler without express permission but she is allowed to not only ride in the Maule any time she wants but may also schedule her friends for rides in it when ever she so pleases.

I am so sneaky.

congratulations on retiring and joing our ranks. Maybe you should buy the Admiral some lessons so she can use the Maule. Actually, I am jealous.

Belandd,

Congrats on the plane! Post pics when you get a chance. Wheels and skis too? You're welcome to moor at our place when you get down this way for say a trip to West Marine or dinner in Anchorage. It's D72, D&C Firelake Flying Club SPB in Eagle River. We'd love to see your new toy. I'm about 2 years out from retiring from Ft. Richardson myself, but I'll be looking for other work to pay for the toys.

Excuse my showing off, however I have been waiting for this for a long time.
Of course my wife was more involved then I let on. We have owned five different airplanes together and always wanted one on floats.

I have taken on a second career to pay for toys for both my self and the Admiral. She has a number of years to go before she retires.

Thanks for all of your kind comments.

I get down to Anchorage often. Don't know when I will fly down. Probably not until next summer.

I boat out of Valdez. We should plan a raft up next summer.
