Hello everyone. Got a problem. My 1991 3288 has a broken water contection to the water heater and I am having very difficult time finding a replacement. This piece is made up of a 1/2 inch plastic female attachment with standard thead (NPT) to contect to the heater and is mated to a 1/2 inch female swivel with a much finer thread (exact type thread not identified). The swivel srews on to a 1/2 inch three-way Tee to distrbute the water. All connection points are of a pressure type. I need info on how I can get a proper replacement part - source, manufacture, etc. If these contectors are no longer available I need advice on how to rig a replacement. I would prefer not to have replace all the distribution Tee's in the system if possible.

Hi,

Most of the boat plumbing is the same stuff they use for RV's. I think you will find what you need at a RV parts supplier. That's where I get my plumbing parts from.

You can't find this stuff at regular hardware outlets.

As Johnny mentions - the plumbing is usually 'PEX' or 'QEST' type.
Here's a site with a bunch of fittings and things.
(you can also find alot of this stuff at Home Depot/Lowes)

Another fitting that fits the old polybutyal (sp) is called sharkbite. Cool fittings! Fits all 1/2" type of pipe, just push them on and you are done. Also there is a special tool to remove the fitting. They are not cheap, but bullet proof and brass. Pro plumbers use them for adapting different pipe, like pex, poly cvpvc, etc.
