Are you referring to the type of unit that sets over an open hatch?

I have seen that but no.. Not the RV roof style. The ones they sell at Home Depot or lowes
Stand alone units, on casters or stationary. Might have a hose or two that plumb out a window.

Thanks

I tried one, didn't like it, got a window unit instead. Assuming you are on Havasu, which 32 is yours?

I have one like you are referring to in the forward bedroom. It works great in there. Most of the time i keep the setting to dehumidifier and that keeps the area very cool. I do keep the door closed to the bedroom. I also have what Jeffw says he has, a window unit. This works very well in the aft section of the boat. Since I use the middle bedroom for a walk in closet (the admiral needs her space) I don't worry to much about that area. I wrap the out side of the AC window unit with plastic wrap during the winter and that keeps the cold air out. Hope this helps. In the forward bedroom the AC unit vents through a port hole window.

I tried a stand up until and vented it into the bilge. It didn't work at all. Due to the small space it cooled right in front of the ac and kicked the thermostat off iimmedietly....So maybe try out a unit that you can force to stay running

If you want to use the stand alone units, imperatively get thes one with double hoses (one to suck the air into the condenser and one to blow outside the hot air from the condenser without any contact with the cabin air which is cooled by the evaporator) otherwise the single hose units suck the air through vents, windows and door leaks, bringing in thousands of cubic feet of outside hot air inside the boat that the A/C can barely cool. After a few hours you end up with a few degrees less and tons of humidity. I left my boat for three weeks and came back to find a all moldy interior, 5 degrees cooler only than the outside.

I bought a single hose 12,000 BTU unit from Home Hardware last year and we love it. I trimmed the ends of the window panel to match the angle of the side slider window. Pinned it to the correct length, added some gasket on both of the long sides and sandwich it between the window frame and the edge of the glass slider.

We didn't think it would work but were surprised how good it did. This ain't Lake Havasu up here in Vancouver but we do get 90 degree days.

Nile, that is why instead of putting the setting on cool I set it on dehumidifier. It takes the moisture out of the air and sends the hot air to the outside. This keeps the forward bedroom very comfortable. Late in the afternoon you can go into the bedroom and you think you could hang meat in there. Not reealy but just a thought. My unit has only one hose, but you must keep the filters clean. I have mine set on top of the counter to the left as you come through the door. It does not move around, and I have been rocked by some pretty good size wakes. You must keep a clear passage for the air intakes. I usually keep something on the counter between the unit and shower wall, about three inches wide down low so as not to block the intakes. So if it does move it will not lay up against the wall. The flair of he hull wall keeps the rear intake vents clear.

We picked up our 3288 last August and was so excited to spend the first night on the boat. My wife was so uncomfortable because of the extreme heat we went home and enjoyed our air conditioned home. I was so disappointed not being on the boat or first night of ownership. Any help with smaller ac unit and/or part numbers that may help us in the future stay on the boat when the hot weather sets in would be appreciated.
