Was curious if you bought this out of umatilla Oregon? If so I have been on the boat, the engine stamp is on top of back of block, right side I think.

they're correct...Bravo 1 does not not belong on that boat so you should really change to a Bravo 2.
drive ratio is stamped on the shaft yoke, engine serial # is always stamped on the block also.

Yes, We did buy it in Umatilla. Thanks for responding. Any words of wisdom regarding this boat?

Thanks for responding. Would a Bravo 2 Leg be the same ratio as the Bravo 1 or would the fact that it swings a larger prop require a change in ratio?

I'm glad your getting it into shape, I always liked the boat. Was moored next to me for a couple years & never saw the owners. The gentleman you purchased it from is a good guy, just wasn't the right time for him to have a boat.

The engine stamp is on the back of the block, I found it for the previous owner. Suggested to him that he should lose that noisy electric fuel pump & go back to mechanical. He posted some questions about the shower drain on here a few months back & Joon tried helping him. Its a nice boat, Joon has a ton of knowledge on these.

The 2958 that was in the parking lot next to yours is our boat. Keep us updated on your progress.

Thanks for the encouraging words.
You must of been out on the water when my wife and I viewed the boat. The slip towards shore was vacant and the one on the other side had a welded aluminum runabout in it. Funny you mentioned the "electric fuel pump". The mechanic said they don't work well on this engine and should be replaced right away. I will be spending the next couple of weeks ferriting out what needs to be repaired in the drive train and sourcing the parts. ie, Used Bravo 2 leg, rebuild or replace Transom mount (gimbel housing) Rebuild engine, purchase long block or purchase low hours used engine. etc....All opinions and suggestions are welcome.

PS Towing a 10' wide 10,000 pound boat threw Seattle, down town Vancouver, BC and onto the ferry to Vancouver Island was quite a adventure.

Thanks Joon,
I contacted a Bayliner dealer and they said it should have a Bravo 2 with a 2.00:1 gear ratio, As I said to Ruffryder, I am going to decide weather to rebuild the engine or purchase a low hours used engine (If I can find one). Any input is welcome.

We moved into that moorage 5 years ago and our 2550 was next to your boat on the west side of moorage. The east side has a waiting list because it is protected from the weather. We moved to east side 3 years ago, your boat moved over this spring with new owner at the time. My 2550 was 3 slips in from shore when you came & looked at the 3058, the 2958 was on a trailer up in the parking lot.

I can only imagine what your trip home was like, I had just brought that 2958 in from Portland a couple weeks earlier & that was not that pleasant.

You should be able to find a good used transom mount some where, I'm going thru some of the same stuff with the 2958, except there are 2 of everything. Most people on here talk about Michigan motors for long blocks. eBay has been my best friend so far for bellows, shift cables etc.

$1500 rebuilt long block, $1700 Vortec.
Buddy just had his re power done at a local boat yard Modutech, Spokane engine is their source to go.

Thanks for the inquiring. As I said on the other thread, I have removed the engine and hope to work on removing the fuel tank (might as well check it while I have the engine out) this weekend. Work and looking for another truck delayed the start the project. Apparently my Ford F-250 has a 6,500 lb towing cap. Have to buy a "BIGGER" truck. Oh well. I will let you know how it progresses.

Hi Ronlord, is it this one you sold to Norway Imported from the US?- just curious about it's origin and history. I bought it in 2015 - been in Norway since 2003/4 something. Number is NY4652UE. Renovating it now.
Not many Bayliner 3058 in Norway. Would love to modify the interior to be somewhat more like the 93 Bayliner Ciera. Best, Vigdis

We had the single engine model, it was a great boat for us. I sold it to a nice guy in Norway, who repowered it with a Steyr diesel.
