Check out www.marinetraffic.com . I looked at several tugs on the river south of Chicage. Put the cursor on the little green marker and see a pic of the boat it represents. Very cool stuff.

We like having the AIS on board. It's fun to see the big guys from miles away and know who they are. Just another piece of the situational awareness puzzle.

But keep in mind you are only seeing the big commercial guys , some government / Coast Guard boats and a few pleasure craft.
