I have a 2008 245SB that's currently in a boatel on the Chesapeake Bay. I am moving to fresh water lakes in the Midwest. The boat can only be in the water from March 1 to Oct 30, then trailered for the winter months. Any suggestions as to what kind of trailer, and make, I should get?

Karavan Trailer. Galvanized, dual axle but I am not sure of the weight rating or the model number. If you are interested in looking they have a web site: Karavantrailers.com

Profeed,

Everyone has their favorites. We have 3..3 are Loadrite and the third is a 5-star..made by loadrite, but their bargain line. One of the loadrites is a 1987..I recently replaced all the bolts and the leaf springs. That trailer has been from BJ to the Keys a few times and I trailered the boat every weekend for a few years. Now the boat spends the winter on it and it sits empty from april to december. The other loadrite has been hauled to the keys 3x and the 5-star just made it's 2nd trip down there and will come back in 2 months. The 5-star is a dual axle and the other 2 are singles. The duel rides much nicer and it also has the torsion axles..go for them..much better ride and the tires down bang over bumps and you dont feel them..the singles are brutal on bumps..but your boat is too big for one of them. My neighbor has a loadrite and he has hauled his 25 mako to florida 6 or 7 times w/o any problems..I like roller trailers for the ease of getting boats on and off in any conditions....bunks trailers need to be deep enough in the water to float the boat on and off...tough to do in low water conditions...

Remember to factor in additional weight of gear, fuel etc when making a choice. You can easily exceed a trailers limits if you go with the smallest that can handle the weight of just the boat.

Brakes. Believe it or not a found a tri-axle that did not come with them...OMG!

If buying on line make sure you ask a ton of questions.

Bunks would be less likely to crack the hull, especially over a long haul.
