I am kind of hoping that the snow storm keeps some of the crowd home so that I can wander around and park in the garage...

Issued by The National Weather Service
Philadelphia, PA
3:23 am EST, Thu., Feb. 4, 2010
... WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MOUNT HOLLY HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.
A STORM SYSTEM DEVELOPING OVER THE GULF OF MEXICO TODAY WILL PASS OFF THE CAROLINA COAST FRIDAY NIGHT AND THEN CONTINUE TO THE NORTHEAST ON SATURDAY. SNOW FROM THIS SYSTEM WILL OVERSPREAD THE REGION FROM SOUTH TO NORTH FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND IT WILL CONTINUE MUCH OF SATURDAY. SIGNIFICANT SNOW TOTALS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES WILL OCCUR OVER THE WATCH AREA. HIGHER TOTALS ARE POSSIBLE ESPECIALLY ACROSS THE DELMARVA REGION. STRENGTHENING WINDS ON SATURDAY MAY CREATE AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW WHICH MAY CREATE ADDITIONAL HAZARDS.
A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET... OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. NOW IS THE TIME TO PREPARE FOR SIGNIFICANT WINTER WEATHER. ALSO... CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS FROM YOUR NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE.

We we going to go Saturday, but now may hold off to Sunday. I undserstand there is some kind of ball game on Sunday, so that may slacken attendance.

Safe and Happy Boating!

Colony,

That darn game does not start early enough to effect the would be show goers...it is just going to have the vendors anxious to get out of there...I am going to try to get there on Saturday. I only live about 30 miles away, so I dont have that far to go....

Ralph:
Tickets should be good for the entire show, not any particular day. Also, I'm sure they will not turn away pre-paid ticket holders on Sunday when their floor-traffic may be near zero on Saturday. If I get to the show at all, it will be Sunday. We also have tickets already paid for. Maybe we will run into you there.

I was just reading the latest national weather forecast.."blizzard warning..heavy snow 2-3 inches per hour..white out conditions with travel extremely hazardous to impossible"...cant say I ever read that before..looks like I am sleeping in tomorrow and will spent the day in front of the wood burning stove looking at boat pictures on my laptop in between shoveling events...I am going to try to get there on Sunday..if it were open later tonight, I would go down tonight, but if I left work now, I would not get there until 630 and 1.5 hours is just a tease at the boat show...BO HO...

I am in AC now (Fri), we went to the show today, very dissapointing. A total of 3 Bayliners, no Trophys, The show gets smaller and smaller every year. We maybe spent 3 hours total at the show. Even the vendors at the far end are about 1/2 what they usually are.
Oh well, it was still nice to see the new boats and equiptment.

John,

Sorry to hear that it was a disapointment..I guess it really is not worth risking life and limb to brave the blizzard and try to get there tomorrow...for the vendors, it is very costly to bring in boats and set up an exhibit. I recall my father telling me that he had a display at a medical equipment trade show at the convention center in ac a few years back and he had to pay an electrician $50 to plug in an extension cord and was forbidden to unplug it and was expected to pay another $50 to have his cord removed...that is just out of control and I am sure that things are the same way at the new convention center...you need to sell a lot of boats and stuff to cover the 10 to 20 grand cost to be at the show....and with the economy, that is a tough nut to cover for the dealers, etc....

Well I got there it was not as good as last year, but I did meet the girl :D from geico racing boat very nice. I talk to many nice people and gather lots of informations for this summer, I'm thinking of putting my boat in the chesapeake bay for a month (from Delaware river) and enjoy the many different places. I going to take a ride by car and look at the marina and do look see. The big thing I got was a boat fix for next couple weeks. Happy days are coming. Glad I went yesterday....:)

Sorry the show wasn't very good. But, you made me feel better about having to miss it. Woke up this morning to a foot of fresh snow and blizzard conditions.
