Hello everyone, my name is Captian Stuck and I am new here with a problem. I have this boating addiction that my wife thinks needs to be rectified. I hope I came to the right place.:D Anyhow, just thought being a new member I would introduce myself. I am located in SW Alberta, just purchased my first Bayliner 2 weeks ago which happens to be a 1992 Trophy 2002wa. It is equipped with a 1992 Merc 175 outboard. I plan on outfitting it to do some serious fishing. Some cruising with the family will also be in order. I have a 4 year old and a 9 month old along with my wife who are quite fond of getting out. It is currently setup with 2 cannon mini mags which I would like to replace in the next year or so. I am working on the finder as of current. It is in good shape but did sit in the California sun for a few years so I am doing some housekeeping and it needs a good polish as it is quite faded. I have it in Vegas in storage right now but plan to bring it home in the next month or so to get it finished for the fishing season in May. We took it out on Lake Mead while I was in Vegas for a maiden voyage and was quite happy with it. Anyhow, if anyone has any advise on how to control my sudden and strong urges to be afloat please let me know..

These are the pictures of the boat when I picked it up in Vegas. I have some cleaning and polishing yet but here goes. Any suggestions or comments are welcome. That Cali sun is brutal.

Plan a trip to Lake Diefenbaker, lot's of great fishing here and lot's of great bays to anchor in. Anchor Marine at Saskatchewan Landing (north of swift current) isn't too far from you.

Welcome from one addict to another! Good luck and enjoy!

There are worse things to be addicted to than family fun and being on the water. And when you can't be doing that come here for a fix!

For the polishing, there are tons of ideas running around here and the net. I have had pretty good luck using 3M Fiberglass Restorer, then going back over it with a good wax.

The cockpit floor, I would just wash it a good brush, and then go to your local carpet store and find a remenant that you like, cut it to fit(or piece it like I did) and then have the edges bound. You might be surprised how nicely that will dress up your cockpit.

Boat bucks just what it sound like except these are used to fill that hole in the water you fondly call a boat. A boat unit on the other hand is code for a thousand of those boat bucks. This is usefull for responding to the better half when asked what you spent filling that hole. It can modified somwhat by using the term .5 units or .75 units. When it really comes into play is when you can casually say it was only 2.5 boat units, not all that bad really. Just get to the credit card statement first. California sun isn't all that bad, it's just all year. Ever wonder why there are so many young looking beautiful women in Southern Cal, Smog it filters out the harmfull UV, keeps their skin looking young. That boat got chocked up in Vega's where life is fast. Welcome to the crazies, your doomed.

Captain Stuck,

Welcome to the BOC, open up your wallet, and get out on the damn water...

:D

You will want to get rid of those stock scuppers and replace with Rabud scuppers. The Factory scuppers suck, and will let water back in.

http://www.rabud.com/seascupper2.htm

the fishwells will fill up with water, and there is almost nothing you can do about it. Make sure your macerator pump is working, and just deal with the water and pump it out.

Also, get rid of the whale tail on the outboard, and install some smart tabs...

Enjoy the boat, and I look forward to seeing some fish pictures...

Rick
