I found a boat that interests me, and it's almost perfect save for one huge negative for me: it appears to have thru hull exhaust. I'm trying to find out if it's Captains Call/switchable or if it's straight thru exhaust.

Have any of you converted thru hull to thru prop, or installed a switchable exhaust?

I'm reading this as though the boat currently has T/H exhaust....... and Matt's question is regarding whether or not this T/H could be coverted to a "Captain's Choice" system!
The concern may be the current layout of the holes in the transom not being same for CC???
Is that correct Matt?

Well, if its straight-thru exhaust, there would be no Y pipe, correct? And to install a Y pipe, don't you have to pull the engine?

For most, I'd say yes..... the engine would need to come out!
Are you sure that the Y pipe was even removed?

As for the T/H bores in the transom....... that was my concern...... I.E., whether or not these were laid out in the same fashion/location that would accommodate the Captain's Choice system.

I believe the T/H ports are factory (this is not a Bayliner) and Captains Call was available on this boat in the later years. If I have to install a Y pipe (which I believe I would need to do for captains call anyway), I'd much rather yank the T/H out entirely and glass over the holes.

This boat has **PLENTY** of power, so I don't imagine it would lose much if any performance.

And change your sig to remove the Contessa. :)
I wouldn't change anything, just add mufflers. No different than any inboard exhaust.
When does modifications become hack jobs anyway. :prod
