That sure looks like Bethel Island. My first boat was at Anchor Marina when I bought it.

Yes, it's Bethel Island, Ca. Hasn't changed much, a sleepy delta town except for the biker bar fist fights on Saturday nights. Some call it Methyl Island. Sugar Barge marina still has an RV park and store, but the restuarant is closed. Just not enough boaters for a high end (relatively) place now.
We keep the boat in a berth year round, and use it quite a bit, even in winter.
It was a chilly 57 degrees today:D, but quite nice with the full canvas.
It does freeze here sometimes, but not enough to bother a boat in the water. I leave a small heater going in the cabin that runs on shore power. Once underway, if it's not raining and the sun is out, it's quite comfortable.

Your right about the weather today. We're in Antioch and went down to the boat at noon to check on the repair work done on our cockpit canvas. Was very hard not to play hooky from work and go out but had to get back.
Suppose to be about the same weather this weekend. Maybe we can get out and enjoy it for awhile.

On a nice day (no rain) you can't beat winter boating in the Delta. The ski boats and jet skis zig zagging in and out are conspicuously missing. It's very peaceful out there. My favorite time to cruise.

About 6 more weeks, been a cold, snowy, crummy winter. The older I get the more I hate winter.

Looked like Mt. Diablo in one of those pics... I've used that several times for pilotage. Thanks for posting, nice pics. You're right, winter boating is hard to beat!

You're not alone.
I've been going regularly to the doctor for a while now and told her she really needs to prescribe me a three month stay in S Florida. So far no luck

Mt. Diablo makes a good reference point on the water as well! It's like seeing an old friend when it comes into view. Before we had GPS it told us when we were headed in the right direction.
I forgot to mention, Lost Isle is closed, probably permanently. People traveled far and wide to visit this delta legend of Mai Tai's and wet T-shirt contests.
I guess this is a collectors item now:

Fond memories of Lost Isle, always seemed to find it by accident, never went there on purpose. Maybe that's how it got it's name... Next trip to the Delta, I'm gonna post a warning, so maybe I can get together with some of you guys...

Ahhh, Lost Isle. Didn't open at all last year. Had an issue with San Joaquin County getting permits, law enforcement, etc. Hope they get it settled by this season. Great Long Island Ice Tea and Mai Tai's.

Looks like you went right past where I keep my boat! What is the name of your boat? I'm getting cabin fever.

I just went to their website and it still has the same statement as last year. Anyone know what their status is with the authorities for this year?
I sent an email asking; hopefully I will get a response.
I have had some good times at Lost Isle. My business partner and I would take a half a day off, generally on a Friday and hit the water. Would usually end up at Lost Isle for a couple of hours before heading home. I have seen some amazing shows by the patrons there and met some real colorful characters too, along with some real fine people.
All the fun places seem to disappear.
I'll let you know if I hear anything.

I had sent an email to the powers of Lost Isle. It would appear that they will be opening for the 2010 boating season. The responder said they will be updating the website with details in the near future.
Nice to have the isle open again.

I didn't take that seriously when I heard it before, but I guess they were serious. Public outcry is cutting it down, thank goodness!
