A local company that has done two dock neighbors' boats has quoted me a price of $18/foot (x31=$558) for detailing, which includes complete inside and out, engine compartment, wash, wax, buff, dress seats, shampoo carpets, everything except bottom paint. The work on the neighbors boats was fantastic. Does this sound reasonable?

I pay half that for a wax top side every year. Doesn't sound bad to me.

I was quoted $12 per foot for hull and top side polish only. If they are doing inside, engine room, bildge, etc then it sounds like a very good deal.

I had someone come by the boat at Dagmar's and they charged $15 a ft. Trouble is when I stopped by unexpectedly he had his two 13 year old boys buffing and what not and he wasn't around. Job looked half assed and the inside wasn't much better.

Next time I will deal with a shop and not someone with "Miracle Boat Detailing" painted on the side of his truck. (If we do a good job its a Miracle)

Great comments so far. It's Ron's Custom Detail here in Havasu. He's been here at least 15 years, and the neighbors boats really do look great. He just left, (I'm on the boat now) and he looked it all over personally. Bottom paint is $700, plus the paint, so less than a grand. The neighbors had that done as well. When I stopped by the shop earlier, his foreman said that Ron does these almost all by himself, other than some qualified Spanish-speaking helpers. I think it's a GO.

No, but he said he was there to look at two other boats as well, and he was asking about Don and Lois' boat next to me. I guess yours was the other? Maybe see you tomorrow, I should be down there by beer-thirty or so...:D

Very reasonable pricing. Go for it. Especially since you can see an example of their work!

Can anyone recommend someone to detail in the Dagmar's/Everett area?
