putting together an old Carver for striper fishing here in TN and need a fish finder. I don't want to spend a boatload of money on one so here are my criteria if you can suggest.

required (in order)
depth sounder
fish finder
temp sensor

want (in order)
GPS
low profile (sight line is limited)
color screen

Any other features i don't know I need?

somebody on another board said something about 'dialing in'.

What does that mean?

I fish for Hybrids down here in Fla (Sunshine Bass). I've caught them up on Cordell Hull lake (Cumberland River). I'd look for the best Color unit you can afford...makes it easier to locate the bait fish

Nice looking boat....Norris Lake...north of Knoxville and The whole Cumberland river system are really good for Stripers. I heard that Tims Ford is a good all around lake...also has those TASTY Walleyes!

Thanks picked it up form my marina in Guntersville - abandoned boat so $1000 and a trailer later....

Spent a long weekend on Norris just about a year ago with the go fast boat and seemed really nice.

Didn't know we had wallys here.

I'll be headed to hometown in a couple months Springfield MO and I always stop by the original BP to look around.

That 300 seems to have some good reviews.

The 300 comes with temp sensor,I bought the speed sensor thru Garmin. I've have had Lowrance and Hummingbirds in the past, but I really like the Garmin. Maybe a unit with GPS and preloaded lake maps could be had. Cabelas has some really good buys...keep us posted!

Bought me a Lowrance elite4 with down imaging sonar and chartplotter for 199.99. It's not color but it is a down imaging, chart plotting, temperature reading machine that i love. It uses gps to give the speed. I am completely happy with it. It does read on plane. You get the best imageswhen trolling though. I use it out here in the gulf to find wrecks and the detail is amazing.

bought mine from Cabelas online. Basspro runs sales also. Keep an eye open.
