So we have finished the soft flybridge floor from inside this winter. Lots of work but loved the outcome.. We had a $8500 estimate from the topside but wanted to be able to help to keep the price down. Found a gentleman out of Mount Vernon who was very welling to help us out.
Tore the vinyl out and replaced it with FRP with teak trim. Replaced all the lights with new LED's from Superbrightled.com.
We still have a few more lights to put in but outside of that we have finished.
Have a new helm chair, roller shades, built a new bed that was missing from the table and new upholstery around the table.

Thanks, we are very happy with the outcome.
The roller blinds are from Home Depot. They are cut to fit. I found some there they had in stock which they have quite a few to chose from. Cost about $200 for all of them. The one under the valance in the back window is one roller at 72" for $36. Only had to bring one back to take another 1" off. I was pricing custom fit and that would of cost us over $600.

Those roller shades look cool. Do they flop around at all when they are down?
Nice to not have those bulky drape bundles dangling bunched together.
That FRP looks good.
Amazing how much can be saved and the more better selection you get when you venture away from the marine stuff everyone else uses.
Looks clean!
Who did the upholstery?

By doing it from below, were you able to find out where the water was coming from and fix it so it won't happen again?

Great job!
Really interesting result with the FRP ceiling. I am thinking of doing something similar outside in the cockpit above the sink. It is starting to look pretty bad.

Very nice indeed. I assume you installed strapping first and then the FRP? Good to know there's another alternative to the vinyl head liner. I have to do my fb as well.

I peeled the upholstery off, used a wire brush to clean off all the goop and foam chunks, then sanded it with 80 grit orbital sander.
Then rolled on white enamel paint.

is the ceiling surfaced with fiberglass sheets that home depot sells for use in bathrooms?
I like the look. Industrial, sturdy, clean, white, looks easy to keep clean.
Is there a new core material too?

Since we just put the rollers shades in hard to say whether they flop around when down. I will have them rolled up most of the time, just wanted them for night and when at a slip. Had curtains for awhile but I agree as my husband didn't care for them as they were in the way.
Tom's Top Shop on Marine Dr in Bellingham did our upholstery. We have had a couple different people do upholstery but really like his work. He did both the cushions around the table and helm chair.
Yes, I like to look outside of the standard marine stuff if possible.
The FRP we picked up at Lowe's but Home Depot does also carry it.
Diveguy, yes we put strips where they originally were so we could attach the FRP better.
Had we not do it from inside we would not have seen the mold and mushrooms growing on the vinyl.
Probably 2/3rd of the balsa wood was wet, so hard to see exactly where all the water was coming from. Though it was obvious some of the screws didn't have 5200 on them plus wholes not filled. So we also pulled the seats out, filled wholes and redid the screws.
We replaced all the wood with a honeycomb sandwiched with fiberglass. I posted a few pictures of the work.

Love the updated look and makes the boat so much brighter inside.

Son, picked it up from somewhere in Oregon. Its a Stidd chair, but it needed many parts and we had the base re powder coated. So been piecing it together for awhile.

In the very beginning I thought you'all were crazy to do this from the inside.
In the end: It looks great and the process makes sense. NICE job!
