Thought I'd share the upgrades I put on my Element after getting her.

I already owned the exact Jensen stereo that Bayliner installs and so I purchased two pairs of speakers, a 10" subwoofer, and a mono-amp to run the sub and now we cruise in style!

I also saw a picture of a recessed storage shelf on someone else's Element and I found one, a bigger size, at Great Lake Skippers website and installed that on the side of my helm. On either side of the shelf I installed a MP3 port for the radio and 12v receptacle.

Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of the amplifier but I installed it on the "wall" under the starboard side bow cushion area.

Next year is the bimini top install! :P

What is the description and/or part number for the recessed storage? I would also like to install one. How did you cut the glass to install it?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Yes, I'd like to know about the recessed shelf also. I went to Great Lakes Skipper website but couldn't find it. Tried searching different descriptions in their search bar but nothing came up.

Thanks for the kind words. I searched and searched for the shelf and finally found it at Great Lake Skippers, but I'd start here: ssicustomplastics.com/products/index.php...59_63&product_id=180

Or at these websites:

www.boatoutfitters.com/cargo-net-storage-ssi

shop.hamiltonmarine.com/products/cargo-n...black-net-30757.html

The factory installed one is smaller but I'm sure you could purchase one from your dealer if you asked.

As far as cutting the fiberglass to install it, I made a template of the cutout pattern (back side) using cardboard and used a pen to outline that pattern. I then drilled some starter holes and then used a fine tooth hand saw to cut out the hole. Oh, first I cut and drilled the holes for the MP3 port and 12v receptacle so I did not have to do that once installed on the side of the helm. The farther you go left on the side of the helm, you'll encounter some formed styrofoam that is behind the front seat/helm area...so make sure you hug the shelf to the "right side" when installing. If you install smaller, factory sized shelf, this should not be a problem. :-)

Hope that is helpful...enjoy and have fun!

Great Lakes Skipper does have this one, albeit different size it would still work on the side of the helm:
