Took the plunge and had all of the carpet removed from the cabin of our 2001 3055. Twelve year old shag carpet is just not a good look. I replaced the flooring a couple years ago with some laminate, which looked pretty good, but I wanted ALL of the carpet out of there so we started from scratch.

The material is a very heavy vinyl that is teak / birch colored. Textured surface very non slip. On the vertical surfaces is the same material just in teak. It is indestructible and maintenance free.

They skim coated everything to get it smooth. The entire project took 3 days, I went down every afternoon to see how it was going. It looked like a bomb went off inside my boat for a couple days. I would guess the man hours to be around 40 at least. I think they did an excellent job, very quality work.

To say I am pleased with the result is an understatement. I could not believe the transformation. I also replaced the monkey fur wall by the door with some vinyl so it can be wiped clean.

The change to the look and feel is huge. Love it!

Here comes some pics.... (second try)...

Holy crap Brad, that looks absolutely amazing! All of the nicer 2013 models I went on at the Detroit boat show have that same look inside.... I'm not sure what it cost you but it looks like a brand new 2013 on the inside! Certainly cheaper than buying a new boat!

Thanks very much. It does give it a more up to date look and feel. Plus I am a clean freak so having surfaces that can be kept clean is a big plus. Next to the swim platform, this is my favorite project on the boat.

Brad;As soon as I can upload pictures I will .I ordered 1 sheet of the same arborite as in the galley ;and with that I was able to recover the table top, around the companion door, under the forward berth and had enough to build a shelf behind the galley bench in case you needed another project

It looks really nice. Good job. I am thinking of replacing the carpet on my 2850. Do you have the name of the material that you used?

Thanks,
Joe

PM me if and when you ever decide to sell your boat. "CLEAN FREAK" is a quality I want in a seller. Next boat I buy will be from someone like that hopefully. Last 3 boats I bought each guy claimed to be that way. HARDLY. I can only imagine what their homes looked like. Unfortunately, you never really realize how sloppy and unsanitary someone is until after you own the boat for a while and learn what a mistake you made... haha.

Nice job on the flooring, btw. Name of the product?

Wow. The carpet in our 3055 is in new condition as the boat was never slept in...you still "sink" down into it as to step on it, but this project has me thinking.

That looks great!
All the new high end $100,000+ boats seem to have gone to this type of interior.

Hi Brad,

I know this isn't a new post but I am new to the forum. Just purchased a 2000 3055, love it but don't love the outdated interior cabin.
Yours looks amazing, did you also do the upper deck, I heard it gets really hot, is that true?

Thanks
