the new ride had broken set pin ears on the volvo280 transom shield. instead of changing the shield, i decided to try something a little different. not to mention a lot easier and cheaper. i added a second set pin to the forward hole and made a couple of "links" to tie the two set pins together, thus transfering the torque to the forward pin with more support. the links were fabricated from aluminum bar stock and painted. took me all of a couple of hours one afternoon versus days for a transom shield change. the pins are captive between the set pin ears and the shield and offer no interference to the suspension fork or reverse latch mechanism.:arr
