Finally grabbed the camera to take a pic or two of these two projects.

Previous owner didn't like music so they pulled the stereo. Made a nice wood cover for the holes but we need tunes.

The other project that took a little bit longer was the remote start and guage panel for the Generator. The boat originally had a westerbeke but it was replaced with a Kohler last year with no remote start. You had to lift a hatch in the cockpit and reach down to start it and then you have no guages to monitor it. I bought the starter/guage panel from Kohler but didn't have a good place for it. Removed the original panel with three guages and used some teak from last boat and fit all four guages and the start/preheat button. Worked like a charm and looks good IMHO. :D

Looks good to me Sean,
Did you get a Radio/CD model that can accept an iPod or MP3 Player?

Yep. There is a port on the front for the mp3 player. Couldn't find one that had a port on the back without spending close to $400. This one set me back $100 and comes with a remote. It is almost exactly like the JVC I installed on the last boat.

Nice,
We have the original Clarion that came with the boat. It also has the remote on the dash which is pretty handy and the disc changer. I'd sure like to have the iPod interface though, since all of our music is there.

Your shore power panel is at the helm? I have never seen that before- is that "stock"?

Nehalennia, you can use one of those radio transmitters with your ipod, then you just take your ipod/transmitter with you wherever you are on the boat and you have volume and content control of the whole-boat stereo. They actually work pretty darn well, for a cheap solution.

Yes it is. The 38xx's are all that way. Don't think it was an option to not have a lower helm.

Sunny Dude,

I am looking at upgrading my radio as well, currently it has the original audiovox in it. Did you run all new speaker wires andpower or did you tap into original wiring?

Thanks

I used the existing wiring for the stereo. When the previous owner removed they left the wires. RIght now only the salon speakers are hooked up. Not sure if the flybridge ones are bad or it is the wiring. Haven't had time to look at them yet.
