Thanks for the hard work IT team. Working in software, I can appreciate the effort it takes to maintain software. it's like a mechanic adding a turbo to an engine. You bolt it on, start the engine and something doesn't work. You start working you way through intake issues, timing issues, exhaust issues, etc until all the parts start to talk to each other nicely. Looking forward to the end result!

ROssi, are you on any other car forums, perchance? Let me ask another question: Did you ever own a red BMW E30?

I used to play around on NASIOC (Subaru forum) and the Western Subaru Club until the boat took all my money for fun car parts so I don't visit those as often. I do own a red Subari STI, but never a red beamer! B)

Strange. I a on VWVOrtex and I occasionally lurk on NASIOC (even though I don't have a Subaru). There was a gent on Vortex who had a screen name "rossi" and had a red E30. I suspected maybe it was you.

We also have some other car people here...there's a VR6 Corrado guy here too.

Still nice to see we have very similar tastes. :)

I'm not a major fan of the font either -- I do find it somewhat smaller than the prior version. Note that you can increase the size of the font in your own browser window by using your browser zoom controls.

I'm good with the fewer font color options.

Yes.... please incorporate bold font for the member's name in the quote feature.

This might be something we can change in the CSS. We're looking into it.

This template is the one that is supported by our forum software. You can zoom in using your browser, or CONTROL-Zoom-wheel on your mouse to increase/decrease it.

If you are on Chrome you can click on the triple-dot elipsis in the upper right hand corner near your bookmarks and set your zoom level.

Some people never like change, with the exception of complaining about the change. For those behind the scenes keep up the great work and looking forward to the new format. The small amount of comments on this thread indicates that the majority are understanding.

One of the great things about this move is the templates are responsive now - they will render on mobile devices. Thats huge.

Not a fan of that either IMO It'd be good if that could be made an option based on individual user settings.

Nope attachments work just fine you just have to mouse over the attachment to have the navigation appear. You guys need to explore a bit. The new format is generally fine you just need to experience and experiment some:whistle: They are getting closer to understanding the software and site :)

Ive been navigating the new format quite a bit, IMO it's been an improvement for me in some areas and not so much in others. Matt did ask for input and suggestions a few posts back to take into consideration regarding, so I say let the fellas voice their opinions ;)

Just another heads up. I use iPad. When I insert a smiley I can't add anything afterwords. Seems the page just refreshes but won't allow me to do anything but hit the submit button :S
However once it's posted I can go back and edit with no problems

I second the comment, I do not like it, I am 73, but if I was 23 I would still not like the new format, minor changes one can get used to, but not this, I know that all that wasted space on the pages must use a-lot-more data. boatworkfl

Hey all,

I'm trying to comb through any issues that have been highlighted in this thread. Ive not been able to find a ton of outstanding ones. Let me provide some commentary in general:

- In general, changing the fonts, bolding, colours etc is difficult. A site like ours doesn't work like a Word document, and in general to change fonts and sizes means changing the site template. That creates issues down the road when software is upgraded, admins/volunteers change etc... We're looking at some options, but for now my strong suggestion for those (like me) with poor eyesite is to use the Zoom function on your browser. I use Chrome and find that a slight increase in size helps big time. Chrome remembers the zoom setting Per Site -- meaning that only the BOC gets changed.

- Also note, and again this is a Chrome thing but I assume something that can be done in Firefox and others -- if you go to Settings -> Advanced you can actually change the default text size, and default fonts used.

- Seems to be a couple of iPad issues. Things that would be helpful is to understand the IOS version you're running, the browser your using and the version of iPad. Make sure you clear your browser cache for for kicks, also try a different browser. Apple makes some good products, but their browser ain't one of them.... Chrome, Opera, Atomic, Firefox all have some advantages.

- It is taking me a ton of time simply trying to interpret what people are trying to describe (sorry, there is nothing I can do about reversing aging). If at all possible, if you could use your favorite Screen Snip tool and provide me with a picture that would make life a ton easier (if it's Font, Colour, or general formatting -- see point 1 above).

.... and if you're like me, this site has absolutely saved me a ton of money with all the free advice, help and volunteer assistance, its worth it to donate a few bucks. Hell, people I've met here have even loaned me tools and given me gear. The BOC is funded by volunteer dollars and run by volunteer members.... IMHO one of the best boating websites out there, period.
