Does anyone know why I have got the following same email (my personal not BOC email account) at least a hundred times over the last several days?

Message Subject : Imagine buying a car with a battery you don't own.

Message :
Read a couple of reviews in British car enthusiast magazines and they didn't seem bothered by the battery-lease aspect. As they mention, it's a $15,000 battery and part of the deal is that Renault completely looks after the device - service, replacement, insurance - everything. I also note that the UK government puts up 75% of the cost of installing a wall-charge station in the buyer's house. Renault picks up 25%. This is Renault's fourth generation electric car, quick-charging stations are popping up everywhere, Renault is a major auto maker in Europe with millions of vehicles on the road - this might not be so goofy as it initially sounds.
I don't see this as being radically different from regular vehicle leasing - when you think about it, when leasing a car you're really only leasing about half the car (they predict the lease-end value at the start of the contract and you really only lease what you use). In this case, I'm leasing the techy, impossible to work on battery, which is worth about half the value of the car.
I'm not rushing to buy an electric car, but if I were to get one I might nor object to a lease arrangement on the power source.

This talk of renting water heaters, furnaces, etc is all news to me too.

She had a battery replaced? How many miles did it have in it? Most Priuses I know have had the odo flip more than a few times to trigger that...which is about how long a normal engine lasts, for that matter.

Electrified vehicles have a battery recycling program developing. The Chevy Volt for example turns used up battery packs into power supplies for generators.

I am not going to sit here and take that as gospel, sorry.

I own a Prius, by the way, and a 300 hp AWD VW Golf R. I am not a tree hugger.

Not sure how many miles, she lives in Calif and drives all over the place. Not all Prius owners are tree huggers.

So why not unsubscribe like it says at the bottom of the email?
