I have offered my services to assist a few times, but I never get a response so I can take a hint.

As I have run many forums for many years, I know that without knowing the details of the architecture any comments at this time are just guesses, but I am here if some help is needed or another pair of eyes is needed.

Connection speed rarely has anything to do with space..

Usually related more to traffic, bandwidth and memory, and their applicable allocations. Also if it's shared resources vs allocated resources. An issue with DNS can certainly come into play.

Space or server limitations usually manifest in consistent issues, not intermittent like we are experiencing.

Based on the DNS record it looks like it's a Bayliner Owners Club asset. Kudos to whomever properly registered the site to an organization and not an individual.

Stratocaster is the 'owner' of the domain. Rob Schommer is the bank and yours truly the Administrator of the site... When I took the reigns last year, I asked that the funds be managed by Rob to keep the forum as above board as we can. Hope this answers your questions. BTW we also have several mods with more in the wings waiting to go active.

We have had offers from several members to host the forum for free but we prefer to keep it with a for pay host company. It's not that the offers are not appreciated.

I would like a volunteer to maintain upgrades however... Anyone interested for that thankless job that requires a couple of security updates every year please PM me with a phone number to discuss... It takes 2 to 4 hours per upgrade and less than an hour for security mods.

Gotcha. I thought Strat was a person of importance, and knew you were a super mod.
Good that you don't do the books too. Wife is an accountant and refuses to allowed to be a check signor for the same reason.

When is the next fund drive?

Next fund drive will be in the fall. We normally run it about one day and collect enough to pay the rent. I think our next upgrade we will ask for a few dollars and go with a stronger third party security add on as well as a Facebook and tap talk add on that will get us into the current century. The funding will probably mean running our annual one day fund raiser an extra hour or two...

Being a trustee of a couple of organizations, I also understand the need for separation of Admin and accounting. The BOC team like it that way as well...

We have to purchase a facebook add on that will happen next time we upgrade the VBulletin forum. You can add your facebook url now but the new facebook avatar will be located next to your user name where it currently says welcome now...

more to follow...

Yes, you can donate anytime...

I'm heading to Hawaii in Feb so the more you donate, the more fun I can have... (bad joke)...

Besides Paypal, one can send a check to Rob. PM him for an address. When we get closer to the fall (IE. close of boating season ), we will post more info at that time...

Hostway is looking into the slow speed. Got an email last night while I was at a concert... they have let me know they are aware...

Try turning off all the pictures and video for a while and see if that helps.

I just did a cache dump so we should be better for now. Also doing some maintenance... Will see how that helps before I dump all cache and everyone has to log on again...
