MODS..please leave this up for a bit.

OK peeps... seriously, suck it up...you got played, it was a joke. I havent been here too long, and dont know the history behind this site too much, but even i as a nOOb knew this was a joke. A sunken searay on the splash screen...admins/mods NOT posting a response to the "SELLOUT", and most of all IT'S APRIL FOOLS DAY. To all the people ranting and raving and whining....Learn to take a joke, everyone gets played once in their life. And really, honestly, what are you soooo upset about? The fact that they (admins/mods), made a joke about becoming another iboats?..Was anyone seriously harmed in this? I may be just a stupid Canadian but seriously people, get a sense of humor.

I know i'm gunna get alot of guff about this post, but i feel it needed to be said.

I understand the intent and it certainly will go down in history as an epic April Fools Joke.

But I can also understand how some members may be a little pi$$ed. For those who put and have put a lot of time into this site they probably spent a good part of the weekend angry, stressed out, feeling betrayed and maybe even a little depressed at what they thought was a great loss. Now some of them may be feeling that they were made a fool of.

That being said props to the moderators and administrators for one of the longest running, most sucessful gags that I have ever seen !

Hope that is what you were looking for and we can all get off the soap box...

As you have asked... so I will attempt to answer...

boatworkfl;669878 wrote: Because you perped a Hoax on us and stired ip a lot of disent, what were you thinking about? ah, April Fools day?
You have no explanation that will satisfy those of us you stuck it to on this hoax. So then why should we try and why do you continue to push this? Suck it up. It was a well played hoax. As has been said before, if you looked at the splash page, it would have been obvious.
you going to delete this too? Nope, you want all to see, so be it! But if we continue this thread a lot more, then, yes, it will be deleted for the good of the members.
I am not interested in you hiding you reasones in a PM, lets all hear it! You were played, and were played well. What else do you want? Its done. Whining is not going to help.

This is only my opinion as a member here for a while: (I'm known for long, insightful posts....lol)

Yes, there those that went overboard in their responses that cannot be consoled. They weren't happy about something before the prank, and won't let it go now. Your passion is admirable, and thus I believe a "clean slate" attitude was adopted for the weekend. Posts/threads and animosity (yours, not ours) deleted. (kinda wish some of that was archived, but I won't soon forget it, lol)

To sell a good prank, you can't go half way. Nobody forced anyone on this board to reply, especially in such a manner. Many figured it out early (they own calendars, I guess), but others that believed in the Dark Lord or conspiracies would not be swayed. The contradictions and those conclusions were the funniest part for me. ("it's a membership club. It can't be sold", "Non Bayliner owning Mods should go elsewhere") Epic!

As a member, I value all that contribute, and the time all of you have invested to make this a great club. I, too, spend a fair amount of time here. My cat gets jealous. The quality of your commitment is not likely forgotten anytime soon.

Thanks for a fun weekend. Sorry about any stress you endured, but it's back to the obsession of boating. Spring is here (except that guy in Canada that got 10 inches of snow, bummer) and let's get ready for a great season. :onthego: Ted

Well, I for one found this whole drill to be a wake up call. I guess I did not realize how much I enjoy the good things about the BOC until I , for one, perceived that it might change or go away.

Did I enjoy the HOAX ? No-I for one found it not very different than being pranked by being told my boat had sunk while I was on vacation.. Overreaction ? Sure

Am I going to get over it? I think I pretty much have.

On to Boating related stuff.

Happy boating

It was not April fools day, it started several days befor, stop defending the mods for their indiscretion, and lack of concern of the members that were not in on it.
It was a sick HOAX.

Look man, i feel for ya ok, honestly i do. I understand that you are upset about the joke played on the members.

But
#1..I am not defending anyone...(i read the same thing you did and fell for it too, but then i started paying attention to things, and realized it's a joke).

#2..Lack of concern for the members that we not in on it....Hmm i cant really remember that last time i was let in about a joke that was being played on me.

Anyways it was a joke, let it go, and maybe plan to play one on the admins and mods for next year ;) :D

April fools should never be played on so many people, especially in a club like this- think about it.
