If PP goes they would have to go to. The law of unintended consequenses. Guns are certainly political in our country.

Stratocaster who started the PP section because the Dock Walk was getting stupid, admits the decision was a mistake since it turned into a "Monster" in his own words. There all all kinds of excuses of why it should be continued but IMHO I see it like having a women's lingerie section in a hardware store. Just does not fit in plus you need a special password to get in? What the heck is that? Sounds like a porn site. Like I said before, I don't care what happens as I never bothered to get a password and have never been there. All I know is I was pleased when they opened it since it got rid of the nonsense/bickering going on in the Dock Walk.

Strat and many of the members that have been around since the beginning wish it gone. They are the President and CEO's of BOC and I believe (and if this gets me banned so be it) they wish BOC to be smaller that what it has grown to with a member base more alligned.

The Rep Power is not a highly supported decision, but they are keeping it. Will members leave because of it? Chances are yes. And other than Rick I do not recall any other the senior members voicing against it.

And lets face facts, PP is gone. They have made that decision already. I have been down this path when business decisions have been made, then presented to the group for discussion. The banter goes on for a period of time then the leadership, in this case Doug, Strat and Co. raise and voice and say, here is the decision we are going with, live with it.

Members should be able to self police/ban themselves in PP. I did it myself a little less than a year ago. Not only PP but BOC in general. And just recently I took a few weeks break from PP. I was still on other parts of the board, just not PP.

Last I checked we, the members, are all adults. If people are that hyper-sensitive about what is discussed in PP and can not imagine how they handle the real world. PP barely scratches the surface of what is happening politically in our country let alone the rest of the world.

Just one mans opinion.

As it stands now, I have a job where I can be on the internet during the day, so when I do come and play with my friends in the PP forum, I also go to motor yachts, technical discussion and general boating forums to see if I can offer any assistance or answer a question, even though I am usually late and some other nice member provided the information needed.

One thing perplexes me as I am pretty sure it is not a regular PP forum participant that is ruffling feathers over the forum, but possibly someone who stumbled in and got their ego a little bend out of shape?

I assure you, that person was not me.

If the moderators want to make this a boat discussion "only" forum and prohibit non-boating discussion then they can't single out specific topics to prohibit. I say if the members have no choice, as it appears, then they must remove dock walk and only allow boat related discussions.

Stratocaster;668869 wrote: When I made the new site, I created PP to get the political crap out of Dock Walk...but I created a monster. Some days there are more posts on PP than anywhere else, which is silly. This is, first and foremost, a boating site. I vote to gas it. But, if the vote is to keep or combine it, I will go along with what the majority decides, shrug, and accept it!

So this explains you coming into the PP forum the other day and harassing me about how many posts I make. You claimed you actually took the time to research and count the number of posts.

I guess you didn't like my response to your harassment.

I vote for keeping BOTH The Dock Walk and Political Pundits Forums! It's nice to interact with people from all walks of life on subjects that interest you, that are not boating related. With everything going on in the world these days,it's nice to have a place were members can express their views and go back and forth. It is quite possiable someone entered the thread and found something offensive, and did not have the gumption to say somthing, so complained to the moderater . I can assure everyone, anything I have posted, I would not hesitate to say to you in person. Oh well I guess it's back to reading about SBC,outdrive and electrical issues, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz:arr

I'm sure it had nothing to do with regular members complaining. What would they complain about? The PP forum is password protected and won't even show up in the New Posts list if you don't put in the password. Strat has made comments that on some days there are more posts in the PP forum than the others. This comment speaks volumes. Why would it matter if it was true? There would be zero impact to the other members or forums. People who post in PP also post in other areas so removing options will probably result in less posts in the non-PP forums overall because some people will see this as censorship and leave. This is clearly certain mod's who don't agree with the political leaning ... and they have the power to do something about it ... they can remove it ... so they did. The sad thing is the PP section was a good place to bounce political thoughts and opinions with fellow boaters ... just like typical discussions on the real docks. Its provides a good outlet ... a relief valve ... for the daily bombardment of one-sided censored political crap we see and hear each day from mainstream media, radio and TV. Politics is a major issue in our society today whether we like it or not. Its a very contentious election year and at the same time the world economy is in chaos. Our future is unstable to say the least. People need a way to unload and discuss the issues with BOC boating friends. This is as much boating as any other subject that is not "strictly boating".

The interesting thing is how the PP started. People used to have very heated discussions in the Dock Walk before PP was established. After Strat started the PP section the political discussions were pretty civil in PP and remained civil where the other BOC forums still had problems from time to time. The people that caused the most contention in the Dock Walk, before PP was established, don't normally post in the PP forum. This same group has tried on a few occasions to close the PP forum. Some of these people are now mods. Now the PP is no more.
