It isn't anyone who participates. It is someone on the outside looking in. They can't take it or feel left out. Ban me, but they are pissants.

Rep Power, remove PP.

CSR is looking better and better every day.

Or by this potential move is that the goal, get rid of some members?

I will leave. I may check in for the boat once in awhile, but that is it. I will tell you the only reason I went on and talked is because people had opinions. Talked about more than the scum line on the boat. Conversations move on. A scum line moves on to how are your kids. How is your dad with cancer. Gas prices are getting out of line. What is the housing market doing in your area. We are friends in PP. We may have friendly fights, but that is it. Take it away and take lots of us away.

I hope that is not the case. If it is, no problem. I will go easily.

I think we should set up a contact line before they take it away. There are a lot of us who don't agree on anything, but I would have a beer with all of them any day.

Well put Doug.

And looking at the other poll, the large majority voted to remove it. This poll, the results are much closer. It will be very interesting to see the final outcome of all this, or has the decision been made already and this is just an attempt to get some buy-in?

If PP is the main reason a person is a member of BOC, there are other sites that would full fill the PP interests.
I think the tone of one of the last posts here is a tone that does not think much of the other members and what we do and converse about.
I just removed myself from a neutral position; I vote to remove PP from this boating site!

On the other poll you could also click on the results and see who voted for what. Seems to be disabled in this post ?

Sure it's your call, you guys run this forum and you make the decisions. People bitch about the PP forum who do not participate, who cares....., if you think it is bad, then can it, if you think it is an OK place where we juvenile adults can insult each other in all good fun, then let it stay

What's the motivation? Is the main page too crowded? Why in hell do you guys keep trying to fix something that ain't broken? I thought there would be improvements under the new management, now I'm wondering...

I feel this is more than a boat forum, it's a community. I've met many members in person, talked to a few more on the phone. Even the people I don't always agree with, I would still like to meet. Yeah, we can talk politics and disagree, but at the end of the day, we have a beer on our boats, or strive to, that's the common thread.

That is only logical since there are more members who do not participate in PP than those who do. Those of us who choose to participate should be allowed to continue to do so. PP was created to clean up Dockwalk. Lets face it there are always going to be topics of discussion between boaters that are not always about boating. Sure boating is the glue that holds us together but we humans and BOC members (at least some of us) are political animals too.

In the US this is an election year and there is plenty of partisanship on both sides of the aisle. The bantering is good IMO. One of the rules in PP is there should be no name calling. You mods have every right to enforce that rule. For the most part there is little name calling but when a thread degenerates down to that level do what you guys are supposed to do and enforce the rules applicable to PP.

There are political issues that have in the past affected us as boaters and there is surely going to be other political issues that will affect us as boaters in the future. If there is no PP where will these issues be discussed?

Once again you are going to take something that is not broken and "FIX" it. It dosen't need to be fixed. Tweaked a little bit perhaps but fixed no. It's not broken so let it be.

Saintjon;668807 wrote: I say keep it. Some of us like the banter. The site has been for the most part respectable. The dock wall will be the new PP and you all know that. People who do PP as well as other topics will be banned and you will have lost knowledge and a lot of good fun people.

Those that want it banned; block them from entering. It is like the nosy neighbors sticking their nose over the fence and calling the cops at 1 min. past 10 because they are having fun or they don't like it when someone challenges them on their opinion. Don't like it, stay out. That's what I do with the cooking forum. Email wanting it closed? Block them out.

The administration will do what they like which is fine.

You don't have to block them from entering. I have a solution but it will take some work. The mods know who is active in PP and who is not. Change the password and PM the active participants of PP with the new password. After the change if any member of BOC chooses to participate in PP they PM one of the mods for the password. Then they can become a participant in PP.

If that is to much work for the mods then let one of us become the mod of PP and let that person be the one to handle handing out the new password to members who wish to participate. I am willing to volunteer to give out the password if PP is allowed to stay. That will save you guys some work. A sticky in this section stating where to get the new password is all that is needed.

There are viable solutions here besides shutting down one of the more active forums in BOC.

And while we probably will agree very little when it comes to politics I actually appreciate your comments in PP. Sometimes you really get my goat but hey, you are should be allowed to express yourself too. Even when your opinions are contrary to mine or others.

If I ever ran into you dockside I would certainly want to have a beer with you and the others here who are of a different political persuasion. There are times that you really do make great points and it is good to get a different perspective, at least sometimes.:D
