1) Having a 0 or 1 Rep Power does not make me inept.

2) Why should I have left an opinion (look at above statement) prior to this one, my responses don't mean anything because my Rep Power is just 1.

This is the way I have been made to feel by those who are for this system. Its a shame.

(Wow..somehow I moved up to 2. Why I don't know. It's crazy)

LOL you just proved my point it means nothing, nothing at all so why worry about it. Just my opinion but I am having fun none the less :D

New thread for voting; is it set so no one can vote more than once?

Nope. It is still possible to vote for you.

Plus, you are not completely invisible, just mostly invisible, kind of like the Predator movie.

A few sub micro nanoseconds after the system was enabled I got a negative rating for this reply with the comment: "Cutless bearings don't wear out on Marina Queens."

That changed my rating from: 4 to: 0. It has since bounced back to 4.

My only retort was to provide negative reputation points to everyone on B.O.C. who has misspelled "cutlass" as "cutless". Even if they didn't leave a negative rating for me, they should at least know how to spell.

I clicked on it like others just to see what you had to say. I will stay with the original trread, let the other members post in BOC public availability their opinion.

Cutlass bearings do wear out, I have changed enough of them, I guess they would not wear out if you do not use your boat much. That neg. should have been deleted, that is what is wrong with the rating system here, anybody can jump in and stick it to your rating, whether they know what they are expressing or not.

LOL!!! Too funny! I just logged in to take a look at the latest responses - and here is what I found! This system is certainly flawless, that is obvious. I have not posted 1 single time except in this thread for the last few days and this is the result. :) Fun Times!

Pretty odd too... all three were obviously from the same poster, and in succession. Can a regular member please try 3 negatives in a row for me?

EDIT: Another screenshot shows all three negatives in a single minute. :)

The system is working GREAT!

I have never rated DD, honest, but when I attempted to help w/ his request, this is the reply from the system: "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Devildog9999 again."

We agree that cutlass bearings do wear out, very quickly when the alignment is bad.

My boat is used lots, w/ hundreds of hours each year.

Hmmm... 2 members tried and neither was able to rate me at all... And if you look at the screenshot, I have one that was given that is neither positive, or negative.

It will die a natural death if nobody uses it. However, that is unlikely to be the case here.

Question: It seems that the majority of the members that post on this thread are againest the rating system, these are BOC members that post most concerning help on the various threads for assistance on their boats. Those of us that have the time and knowelege and are willing to help, are the ones that would benifit from rep. points, we do not care about rep points, we just do what we do, throughou my life I have done this, probably why I did not make a lot of money at boat work, did not charge or charge enough.

One spring when I arrived in Seward, AK and woke up I look out the door and standing on the dock were 3 different boaters wanting me to help with their boat.

We want to help, we do not want to be rated!

I haven't offered an opinion, however Sarah makes a good point. Sometimes ideas can generate the wrong viewpoint, even if they are a good idea.

2nd. If the system was helpful to new members or old ones, it wouldn't be this complicated. If regular posters are having trouble understanding how this new feature works, new members will have no idea or how to rely on it.

3rd. Many of us work in complex environments and we always learn that keeping it simple works better. I don't see that here by adding this feature.

I do like that ability to give positive feedback to a poster, other than just adding a comment of "+1" cause the system tracks it. That is simple.

I don't like it that the system allows for negative feedback. It's simply not in the spirit of volunteering ones time for the bennifit of others.
