After a pretty rough start to the season we spent Saturday night at Cap Sante marina after enjoying the Anacortes Arts festival. Sunday we headed to Rosario resort after it looked like the fog had lifted (about 11:30), sure enough Rosario Straight was a solid wall of Fog/Smog. I was just about to call it quits when a big Meridian went blazing by with another small boat following behind. We got in line and stayed close across the straight.
We spent a lovely day and night at Rosario resort then headed out to try and catch the morning slack at Deception Pass. We ran into even thicker fog (shown below) so we ended up going back to Cap Sante marina for gas, lunch and to await the opening of the Swinomish river bridge. Fortunately I didn't wait too long and thought to call the casino - a very helpful young lady went to check and reported that the bridge was already open (probably had never been closed). We headed out and had a bizarre foggy / smoggy / dead calm run back to Seattle, many thanks to the SeaRay that we followed nearly all the way to the locks or I might have lost my mind with the boredom.

Sounds like it all worked out. We hit similar fog last week. It I think it is made much worse by the smoke. Real shame.

You and me both, my wife and I feel like we're back in SoCal during the fire season.

My dad remarked that it was like when he was a kid with all the pollution from the area pulp mills (the aroma of Tacoma!).

I've always thought that radar on a boat like mine was an expensive toy but now maybe I see the value in it, but I think I'll always feel more comfortable following in the wake of the biggest boat I can find.

I was out in Puget sound Sunday, the smoke & fog made it feel like I was in the middle of Georgia strait. The fog finally lifted but the sun never really broke through the entire day :S crazy
