July 1 we launched from our condo on the Fox River in Green Bay and cruised up to Menominee, MI (45 miles) had lunch at Pirates Cove with some friends. Then up to Escanba, MI (55 miles) where we had a transient slip waiting at the Municipal Marina on the west shore of Little Bay De Noc. Dinner at Stone House which is a must do with the best food in town at very reasonable prices. On the morning of July 2 we hit Rose's Diner for a nice breakfast with owner having a really neat/unique attitude. Before noon we set out for a 25 miles cruise east to Fayette Historic State park on the east coast of Big Bay De Noc. This park has new docks with power and water and will become a remote go to. A 1.3 mile walk to Sherry's Port Bar followed by an hour tour of the preserved buildings in this abandon iron smelting town. An 8 mile cruise north landed us at The Dock where food and drink are excellent in this hidden cove. This is supposedly one of the nicest sunset viewing spots in the Upper Peninsula. We then made the cruise back to Escanaba, then north of Gladestone where we set out some fishing gear. A couple Northern Pike and several swings and misses had us heading back to the Escanaba marina for happy hour. Dinner at Hereford and Hops before calling it a day. The next morning July 3 we set out for home in Green Bay, but not before an attempted stop in Sister Bay Harbor on Door County where we were denied a short term slip due to the holiday weekend. We decided to go to Little Sturgeon Bay, Wave Point Marina where we had lunch and a beer before heading home to Green Bay. The entire weekend brought us calm to 1 foot seas and excellent cruising. We just about made 300 miles in 3 days on Lake MI. We would do it again tomorrow.

We loved Door County and Escanaba along with Fayette. Loved the upper views of the "snail shell and how it protects the harbor.

Sounds like it was a great trip!!
