Nice pics!

I'm not familiar with the Isthmus. What is it? Where is it?

Donna,

The Isthmus is on the SE end of Catalina Island and is also known as Two Harbours. It is a very small harbor and town which is very popular. I added a link if you are interested with some more info......

Hey Bryan--looks like you had the island to yourselves.... Hope the garbage didn't follow yall over there after last week's first big flush---the amount of junk in the marina was disgusting! BTW--have you ever tried geocaching on the island? There's some pretty cool little boxes hid away out there in the brush--MM

Thanks! I had no idea you were talking about Catalina. I'm always struck by how different it looks. Almost Mediterranean.

Mike,

Yeah the Island was empty. There was a little electrical storm + the rain earlier in the week that chased most of the boaters away. It was kind of nice having it all too ourselves. I have never tried geocaching but it sounds pretty fun. Do you have any info on it?

..the place to start is at www.geocaching.com

It's a great little hobby that seems particularly well suited to the cruising life. Kinda gives you the feeling you're accomplishing something while you're walking around drinking beer! You just give zip code of where you're gonna be, and it gives you gps coordinantes of the "caches" others have hidden. You hunt these little boxes down with your handheld gps (or nowdays your cellphone!), find the cache, and usually sign a log book, take a trinket, leave a trinket...quite a few challenging finds on the island!! Now was that really necessary? I swear the BOC is going to hell in a handbasket. First, no name-calling. Now we need to actually accomplish something while walking around drinking beer? What kind of a f***ing a$$***e walks around whilst enjoying a frosty-cold barley pop? Is not emptying the beer container enough for you? :kidding:D:arr

That is a good one.. I can probably get away with watching an entire game at the bar now!

I would love to but we are flying to Arizona on Christmas day to be with the Admiral in law... Maybe for New Years if the weather is good...
