Here's a link to our photo album of our 2.5 week adventure on Lake Powell aboard "GetAway" last month (June '13.) WARNING: I took 524 photos, but I've cut that down to 373 so far. I just started captioning, and will continue to do so as time permits. I will also post some stats from the trip, but until then, grab a frosty-cold adult beverage and enjoy!:arr

Jeff, looks like it was nice weather most of the trip. You also have an affinity for channel markers? Beautiful area... and it looks like even the dog was having fun!

thanks for the pics...

dang, Jeff . . . you must've had a 128GB SD card in your camera! . . . really nice picts . . . that's one on our bucket list (but we're a bit far East of there) but still want to head out that way . . someday . . . . looked like Ginger really had a good time too (she can climb ladders?) . . . glad you had a good time, looks really interesting with all the rock formations and such, other than your "buoy" fetish . . . . . :kidding

No secret that I know of, you should just have to click on the link. The white buoys are canyon markers, I snapped them to help identify the photos. I need to coordinate with my map to caption them. No fetish...

Hey Vic . . . yeah, you need to sign up for Snapfish and then the whole shebang is yours (at least, that was what I had to do) . . . there's a slideshow button up towards the upper right once you get to Jeff's page . . . . I had a few photos that (according to the circling dirvish) were loading but they never came up so I just clicked on the next one at the bottom of the page and the show just kepta comin' . . . .

Jeff - do the canyon markers correspond to some map that you have so that you know where you're going? .. . . interesting concept, especially since that lake is soooo large!! . . . . neat little coves and stuff . . . . maybe later . .

Yes, all the side canyons, rivers and bays are marked on a map, plus main channel mile markers starting at the dam. You're pretty well crazy if you don't spend $5 for the map...

Jeff, it looks like agreat holiday. Did you send many nights on the hook?compared with at a marina berth. I did not realise, when I last googled the lake, that it is on the Colorado River. The scenery if fantastic, and the variety of shapes of the bolders etc, equally so. I read that 2 million people visit each year, no wonder.

Cheers

We didn't anchor once, we needed to be close to shore for Ginger. Also in most locations, 50 feet off shore would have us in 100-400 feet depths, not conducive to anchoring with 200 feet of rode. So we beached gently and stern-tied both sides, which also gave us a stable platform for satellite TV. We stayed a few nights in the two marinas on the south end to get set up after towing, repairs, and also for Wi-Fi. Tara is taking an on-line course, so she needed the Wi-Fi. We also stayed a few nights at Bullfrog Marina, 100 miles upstream for Wi-Fi and resupply, and to visit with friends.

You can actually cruise from Bullfrog to Wahweap in a day, it's only about 100 miles. Just don't even think of straying from the main channel though...:arr

Ah but that's the problem to many things to get sidetracked with and it would be a shame to miss them.

Jeff & Tara,
Thanks for sharing all of your great pictures and very well done. Looks like it was a wonderful trip and what a great place to get to spend a vacation. Sorry Sandy & I could not have been there to visit with you both but maybe next time you come up. This lake is something very special and lots of room for everyone. Very hard to see that the lake is 100 feet down from being full at this time as
you look at your slides. Yes you need a lot of anchor rode to be safe at this place as you can see on your depth finder. Glad all went
well and you had a great time by looking at the pictures and again thanks. Az Bob & Sandy
