It was a great weekend, but is it our last boating weekend in Savannah GA. I am really going to miss boating in Georgia.

After 2 years on a trailer, we finally put or boat in the water yesterday. I have been gone for 15 months and the boat was stored in a bay at the marina. Prior to my departure, I pulled the drive and discovered there was a leak in a seal and water had ruined the universal drive shaft. I also pulled the carb and sent it off for rebuild. During my absence, I had the mechanic install my rebuilt carb, rebuild the upper and lower stern drive (new seals, 1 new bearing, new gimbal bearing, new universal shaft, new transom service kit, etc). After 3 days of cleaning the boat a few weeks ago, and some adjustments yesterday, we finally got a sea trial yesterday. We left the boat in the water last night and had dinner on it. The marina has a great restaurant and will deliver food to your boat. We also got to watch the boats come in with their catch in the King Tournament. Today my goal was to burn much of the old (but stabilized) fuel in the tank. We managed to use a bit more than half of the 80 gallons. We took the boat from our Marina to a friends house, and back. About 40 miles one way, and except for the engine stalling once during docking manuvers  (while shifting out of gear), it was a trouble free day. I wished I could have burned more fuel, but oh well. I felt pretty good about it since the fuel I was burning only cost me $1.80 a gallon (when I bought it over 2 years ago). Right now the engine is running a bit rich, and the idle is high. I will make changes when I get some fresh fuel in the tank.

Now I must winterize and prepare the boat and trailer for our journey to Pennsylvania and storage (again!). Hopefully it will only be over the winter. We are looking forward to Chesapeake Bay boating and some trips to Lake Raystown.

Why not drain the rest and burn it in your tow vehicle. I'm not a believer in the "old gas" nonsense myself. I ran 12 gallons of fuel through a pressure washer today that was OVER 2 years old. Started and ran just fine.

I tried to figure a way to use the unburned fuel. Tow vehicle is a diesel, car uses 93 octane and motorhome is full. I thought about the lawn mower, but the grass slowed down by the time I got home this year. Bummer.

I agree with the above. 2 year old gasoline...not great IMO.

Maybe that's why you stalled out....?
Sell it to your neighbor for $3/gal or best yet, give it away. Your boat is worth it! You really need to put some fresh gas in next season.

Burning old gas through an engine that needs top knotch fuel all the time is not a good idea. I tried that on an older boat and ended up cracking the head because there was water in there I guess. Or at least that's what the experts said. Ended up selling the boat, and running the gas through my lawn mower just to get rid of it. That burned it fine. But the boat, no way!
