The Admiral and I were moored on an outside slip which was kind of rocky at night. We didn't sleep to well but the next day we got lucky and were offered a mooring on the inside, right in front of the Avalon Tuna Club. It is a pretty harry experience putting the boat in there. It is very narrow and you pretty much have to thread the needle to get in. It was worth it though because a happy well rested Admiral means a happy rest of our vacation :) I am glad to say we got her moored just fine. Anyway here are a few more pics....

Man, has that place changed in 30 years!
Nice pics, BTW WHAT is the home port on your boat?? I assume that's Huntington Harbor CA? Looks like it says LI at the end, in which case it would be from my harbor and quite far from home! :)

Sea,

Yes, it is flagged Huntington Harbour (Beach) CA. The PO Coast Guard Registered it. I am actually Berthed in San Pedro, CA (LA) and am in the process getting that corrected.. Yeah, Catalina has changed a lot over the years; Avalon is always packed with Cruise Ship Tourists who stop here on their way to Mexico...

Never got ashore that day but managed a few shots from the water. The Casino always looks so out of place to me.

familiar angles, looks like a nice spot, much DRYER than here. Seems odd not to see canvas. Great pix

Fantastic pictures, brings back great memories... Hopefully we'll do a Catalina trip next spring and/or summer... I want the boat pretty complete rigging-wise. I'm getting real comfy with the operation and capabilities. I definitely need to get a windlass before I go anywhere but here. Did you get over to Two Harbors?

Thanks! It's really like a new pair of dress shoes or boots. The break-in process is taking some time, but I'm getting used to it. I had the (pontoon) houseboat for the last 3 years, plus 3 other pontoons over the last 13 years, so going back to a deep vee is a bit of a culture shock. But I guess it like riding a bicycle...

Please post a link to those pictures. And I'll probably be over there in a month or so to visit my cousins - one in Long Beach and one in Redondo (Riviera). Maybe we can have a beer or three...:arr
