Phroghawk,

The wifey and I are planning a trip to KY lake this summer. Any recommendations for marinas/places to stay/see?

Never been there before.

Salty, there are so many options on Kentucky Lake it's hard to go wrong! The pictures here are from the Blood River area, which is outside of Murray, KY at mile post 52 of the Tenn. River. It goes about 2 to 3 miles west and then 3 to 4 miles south of the main lake/channel. In my opinion it’s a nice family area as there are several nice size coves to anchor in and play. Plus, there is plenty of room for pulling skiers etc. There are a few nice Marinas with lodging here. As a matter of fact, the third picture is of Kentucky Beach Resort, their newer covered dock is on the left and you can just make out the breakwater for the uncovered docks on the right. The buildings you see in that picture are the rental cabins. This is within walking distance of my family's place over there.

The Kentucky Dam area, which is right off of interstate 24, near Gilbertsville and Grand Rivers, Ky and is around MP22.5 of the river, has a lot to offer as well. There is a very nice place to eat in Grand Rivers called Patti's Settlement, I would highly recommend dining there, but make reservations! The “quarry” is also in this area if you are into the party cove thing. There are nice marinas all up and down the lake, it’s hard to narrow just one down.

The Lake stretches forever and it seems you are only limited by money, time and imagination on what you can do! Go to kylake dot com, it seems to have some good info and has links to most of the marinas, lake conditions, and services. Let me know if I can help you out anymore. Darrin

Hey proghawk,
That looks like a good fishing setup you have there. I assume you drift along the banks and use lures?
What type of fish would get in those type of waters? Bass?

To be honest Ocean Man, that boat came with a cabin my cousin bought last year, but yes it is a nice set up. I have not had the opportunity to do much (as in almost none) fishing in the last few years, but I do plan on turning it up in the next couple of months before I have to deploy.
