Hi all. Starting to get some use out of my little 175XT now as it warms up down here.

This weekend I took the family to Echuca on the Murray River which forms part of the border between Victoria and New South Wales.

Had a terrific weekend and while the water in the river is very low, we launched easily, and found a great spot for a picnic and a play by the river.

The Admiral was very nervous but both our girls (almost 5 and 2.5) had their first go in the tube! They were both very excited and thoroughly enjoyed being towed and at a very slow 5mph, just above idle, and now building confidence so I am sure the eldest (who is also a good swimmer) will be up to planing speed (just) by season's end.

Couple pics attached.

Cheers, Sean.

Make sure you keep posting pics thru the summer so we can day dream thru the winter. The place you took the pics looks really fun with a little bit of everything. Thanks.

Thanks for the replies guys...

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time here at the BOC since March (i think) and in particular, the Captain's Log posts that you guys were putting up while we froze down here! I figure that if I can't be on my boat, I can still enjoy reading about other people's experiences..

Here's a couple more pics...including one of the Admiral (for seapuppy...lol) having a bit of a relax while the money monsters enjoy themselves on the beach.

There are a few Aussies on the BOC site now too so hopefully plenty of posts featuring fun in the sun Down Under...

:arr Sean.

Planing speed huh? Is that anywhere near ramming speed? :arr

Please do keep the posts coming. I am facing my first winter as a boater and will no doubt suffer mightily till next spring unless I can see pictures!

Question, are there any of those boat eating salt water crocs around there?

Good question...but...NO...definitely no Crocs or Sharks in these waters. The Murray River is all fresh water. While there is also a fresh water Croc, it gets too cold for them this far south. The "Salties" inhabit the estuaries in Northern Australia - north of Cairns on the east coast. They are the most fearsome creatures to look at in the flesh.

Fortunately there are plenty of other things that can kill you down south to keep us occupied....ranging from venomous Spiders and man-eating Sharks to some of the most dangerous Snakes on the planet. :(

The only crocs you get in Victoria are inflatable and get dragged behind a boats or float in pools:kidding

Nice picks Sean! it looked like a nice day. I'll try to get some sunny picks on there myself; for all those Northern Hemesphere folk who are freezing there Be-hinds off. I took my new 175 out of the Marina for the first time yesterday, it was great, although a bit choppy so I couldn't fully wind it out, cause the wife got a bit scared with bouncing.
Might take her out tonight if it's flat.

Nice pics, I'm glad somebody's enjoying their boat right now. I had a dream about mine last night. It's bitter sweet. Kinda like being away from your wife on business, but having a dream about her.

Actually...funny you mention that...I just checked in on the BOC site as I am away on business at the moment and my wife is up on the river at Echuca with the kids...and my BOAT! Well she says it's "our" boat anyway.

I'll post some more of our adventures in the Down Under thread in the coming weeks...
