We belong to a shareholder partnership called Centre Bay Yacht Station . Some of you may have read about previous trips we've made to this destination. Every year, a "Labour Day Extravaganza" is held, and this year we had a great one! While the weather forecast was not great, and turned out to be dead accurate, we still had a great time on the water with good friends.

We left work a bit early Friday night, and were on the water by 5:00pm. It was slack current in the Fraser River, so the water was smooth as glass.

We arrived at CBYS one hour later, and discovered that we were boat number 25. We ended up with 30 boats tied up. A far cry from last year's 47 boats, but 30 is definitely enough for a party.

The weekend was planned and executed to perfection by the CBYS President and his crew. Cannonball, crib, ping-pong, crazy hats, horseshoes and corn shucking...there was a contest for everything.

On Saturday evening, we had the feast on the beach, consisting of a spit-roasted suckling pig and 5 chickens, as well as 100 cobs of corn.

Sunday was pot luck, which included lots of freshly-caught Dungeness crab and prawns.

Saturday was sunny, and Sunday/Monday were on again-off again clouds, sun and rain. It was cool in the evenings, and we went through 1.5 cans of propane in the Coleman ProCat heater.

The trip back to the marina on Monday was awesome...there was zero wind, and we arrived at slack current in the river once again, so we just coasted easily into our slip.

I'll leave you with a webcam shot from KatKam.ca that shows what a 10 minute sliver of intense sun in the middle of a rainshower looked like on Sunday night, just before it dipped below the horizon. Wow!
