I'm not that much into the music thing so that won't be used much. What type of battery do I need? Just looking for a basic needs battery, I don't need the "super-duper" megga never die, $5000 one. What am I looking for- a marine battery I know, but what cranking amp or volt? Are all marine battery's deep cycle? & what the hell does that mean anyway? Just looking for a heads up so I don't get ripped off at the store. Thanks, MAXX

I used to shop around, but last year after my boat sat a year and the battery died, I went back to buy another at Costco, they said i had it for less than a year so it was free.. I like free.

Thanks, that's the information I was looking for. A dual purpose sounds like it's the one I need, Well, atleast for now....until I start doing little mod's here & there like adding power supply's, UHF radio, Then I'll be adding the deep cycle just for that stuff. Thanks, MAXX

I was at Wal-Mart today & looked up in the ref. guide at the battery section, & it listed a dual purpose for $65.00. I stopped at a few other places- auto stores- & it pointed out the same battery for my needs & I got prices from $85 to $125 for the same exact battery at Wal-Mart. I think I'll be going to Wal-Mart on Saturday to pick it up. Also they have a nice locking hard plastic battery box for $8.00. Can't beat that.... Tanx for the advice, wish me luck, first time in the water in my own boat, can't friggin wait... Be cool ya'll, I will post up with any adventures that may float my way.........

I like your photo collection. I wish my 2006 185BR was as clean as yours. Mine sits in the water all summer (in S. Wisconsin), the hull and lower unit get pretty crummy. The rest of the boat is clean though, I guess that's what counts for me at least. Thanks for sharing your photos.

The shop sent a guy out yesterday to install the snaps that they forgot to install at the shop. I used Tumac's Covers in Pittsburgh, and I would recomend them to anyone in the area. They did a good job, got it done quicker than they said they would and quickly corrected the only problem that I had. Let me know what you think.

Thanks for the photo. I had the same cover(s) made for our 185BR. I love it. It was way worth the money.

Tanx, I was not sure if it was any different than the weed wacker, I guess a 2-stroke is a 2-stroke. Thanks again.

I remember in my early days here at the BOC, I was pushing for the Admirals Forum. I had many posts for the ladies (they have all been "purged"). I have to laugh, I seldom, if ever post there. Most of the gals have cruisers and I am a speedboat-waverunner girl.

Guess I prefer to be with the boys :D

Leave it on.
LOVE my Doel.
Better hole shots....quicker to plane.
Finer control of attitude under all speeds.
44.8 MPH last fall (GPS) so the drag is not an issue.

I have tried it with and without.
Too many years in Engineering not to run some tests I guess.

It would be awesome, I'm not up on Bayliner and other related brands sales but I bet they sell a lot more bowriders than any other kind of boat they make.

hey guys!!
i really am suprised that we still havent gotten a seperate thread yet for out little bowriders!
anyways, i just thought i'd let ye no, i finished a little project today, in under an hour! I replaced the stock speakers in my 175, with some Sony xsmp1610w speakers.
The results are amazing. I can now hear the music above the engine noise!!!!
using a jigsaw to cut the holes wider, each hole took me about 5 mins!!
couldn't be happier right now!

Took it out for a test ride yesterday, launched fine, fired right up & away we went. We: my 14 yo son & myself. Everything went well, motor sounded fine, no leaks, right up on plane with the big dorkfinn on the lower unit. The only issue I had was the performance. At WOT 3600 RPM & top speed 21MPH (GPS). Please tell me there's more to be had. I was talking to a guy at the ramp & he said I should be at 5500 RPM & 35 MPH or better with this boat, Oh sorry, 16', '85 Bayliner bowrider, 85HP Force O/B, factory SS prop. The only dumb-ass:hammer,thing I noticed was: I never opened the vent on the gas tank(6-gallon plastic), & it was all sucked in from the fuel vacuum. Could this have caused the low RPM & MPH? I did not noticed the tank untill I was just ready to hop in the truck & drive home other wise I would have put back in & tried again. Also I have 4 trim settings, 1 is all the way down, 2, 3, & 4 is all the way up. It looked like he(prev. owner), had it in #4, I moved it to #3 because of what I was told here about trim. I will have more time to fart around with the trim today if weather holds. What should I do to get RPM & more speed? Do you guy's think the fuel vent had that much of an impact? Let me know, I'm starting to get ready to go & will be pulling out in an hour or so. Thanks, MAXX
