Guys,

I've looked everywhere and can't find the stock prop size for the 2009 175's. Does anyone know it off hand (diameter and pitch)? Thanks for the info.

Correct me if I'm wrong here guys, but in all the 2004 manuals I read there is no stock prop size. Everything I read says the dealer/buyer picks the prop size to fit their application. I have seen a lot of people running a 21" pitch 14" diameter 3 blade prop as a cruiser prop. I personally am using a 17" pitch 14.5" diameter 4 blade prop that is especially awesome for wakeboarding/skiing. It doesnt have a ton of top end speed but accelerates and planes the boat awesome. You do have to watch your top end RPM's as she can rev high pretty quick.

Yeah, I bought the boat (basically new) off of craigslist about a month ago and the prop was pretty chewed up from the previous owner bumping bottom (only real problem). I was just wondering what size the prop was that came with the boat out of the factory because i'm sure that's what is still on it. Right now I'm running 4900-5000 RPM WOT which is a little high, but my GPS is clocking me at 38 kts. Is that normal?

there should be a number stamped on the inner part of the hub that will tell you what size the prop is. that will then allow you to make adjustments to get the right prop for your application. if you post the numbers we can help you out.

My 2009 came with a 3 blade 21pitch and what I believe a 14" diameter prop. I've owned it since new and was never given an option for a prop. Also for what it's worth my buddy who had an 05 175 since new gave me his spare prop that was original and it's the same as my 09. I'm pretty sure that's what Bayliner/Mercruiser spec'd for the boat.

the 14", 21p 3-blade seems to be what the dealers install. This is about equivalent with a 14.5", 19p 4-blade like the Solas mentioned in other threads. As the 4-blades give a bit more stern lift it's the next prop I will go for. First have to finish all the stuff on my trailer.....

Nice thing is that the Solas are well priced....

Thanks for all the help! Just checked my prop and it is indeed a 14" with a 21p. I think I'm going to stick with that for a while. Thanks again!

14.25 dia x 21p is a good all rounded mid tie for a 175. 19 p or even 17 is good for towing, sking, WB etc.. 21p will put you inbetween. I have all three 19p 21p and just bought a 23p. The 23p will get you up to top speed around 46 mph on a good glass water day. WOT will drop to max 4000rpm. I just change out my prop per what day on the lake I'm doing and it's conditions etc.. I'm liking the 23p tho!

I have a 2008 175 that when I bought it the PO had chewed the prop up bad...I have it in a box it is a 14.25x19 and it pulls a triple tube well. However I can over run the RPMs quick if I am not on point. I think I will be switching to a 4 blade unit very soon just to see what it offers. The biggest issue I have is the lack of trim control. When the gauge is showing 1/4 I am throwing a rooster about 5 feet behind the boat...That pulling tubes or running outright. The other issue is the torque steering without the proper tab, and I am getting that fixed ASAP!
