We use a used billboard as a tarp - great price and pretty strong - this will be the 4th season with it - total cost from e-bay - $60 shipped to the house - made my own a-frame and had my winter cover, with ventilation for around $120. Look HERE

The benefit for me is that I will have the tarp/cover on and still be hopping in/out of the boat for a while yet...here is what ours looks like

The best thing about these billboard tarps is that they have slotts all around the edge to insert a pole/pvc pipe - which I then use to tie to the trailer...it may not be pretty BUT I have had no moisture for the last few years and I have the access to the boat - definate bonus...

As for prices for shrink wrap - here in Orange County the going rate is approx $15 per linier ft with an add on charge for the radar arch, which makes it over $500 just to have someone else shrink wrap it...so I think I made out pretty good, even if it does not look pretty...

I'd think on a 21' Rinker, with a mooring cover, he'd not have some of the issues that we with larger boats have. Yes/No?

It's older than yours and not nearly as pretty!

Why the suprise, it 4 x's for everything in NJ. But you wouldn't like it here, we have a CCW law and we all carry GUNS.

Get yourself a nice Fisher custom cover and after 3 years it's free. Yup...it runs about the price of three years of shrink wrap (maybe less with the price you gave), it's heavy duty sealed canvas, it's supported by 2 x 4's which slide into sewn in pockets on the cover for your size boat, it's vented and sheds snows, etc great. You can also have a door sewn in. You can see mine down below. Their link is here: Fisher Canvas Products.

Full cover on Trophy 2052 with hard top:

This shows the 2 x 4's at the stern:

I agree. With this boat I'd go with a mooring cover that I could also use during the season.

I wouldn't want to rely on the snaps for snow load, etc. You're begging for damage to your windshield frame etc. Plus it won't keep the hull clean which is one of the reasons I bought the particular cover I have for my boat.

our storage lot in Northern VA is littered in March with 21-25 footers with shredded mooring covers (and bent camper canvas frames) who's owners thought that they could survive the winter. We get a few heavy, wet snows here, and an ice storm or two. You need a winter cover, or a good support system for a mooring cover.
